I had this at Costco of all places! I came home and had to post it because it is so easy and it was very good. In fact, I had one and then I liked it so much, I came back later and had another! Don't report me! You can adjust the amount of dressing and cream cheese to suit your taste. *in light of Elissa's review that it was good but thin, I would add less ranch and more cream cheese to adjust. You can alter these 2 ingredients to your liking (and texture). It should have the consistency of tuna salad. Serve on your favorite cracker. I like Ritz for this.

2 (6 1/2 ounce) cans minced clams, drained
1/4-1/2 cup ranch dressing
2 tablespoons green onions, chopped (optional)
1 -2 tablespoon cream cheese, to thicken (optional)

Steps:

  • Mix everything in a bowl and adjust to your taste.
  • Chill in refrigerator until ready to serve.
  • Spread on crackers as a snack or appetizer.

For years, I have not been able to find my favorite brand of clam dip, so I was compelled to concoct my own recipe. If you loved Breakstone's Clam Dip, you'll love this.

8 oz cream cheese (1 brick), room temperature
3/4 c sour cream
1 pkg dry ranch dressing mix
1 tsp pure maple syrup
1/4 tsp liquid smoke flavoring
1/8 tsp ground black pepper
1/2 c extra-sharp cheddar cheese
3 Tbsp real hickory smoked bacon bits
1 Tbsp fresh minced chives
1 can(s) chopped or minced clams (6.5 oz.), drained
fresh chives, parsley or sliced green onion for garnish (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. Using an electric hand-mixer, beat cream cheese until fluffy.
  • 2. Add sour cream; mix thoroughly, until no lumps remain.
  • 3. Add ranch dressing mix, maple syrup, liquid smoke and pepper; mix well.
  • 4. Add cheddar cheese, bacon bits and minced chives; combine well.
  • 5. Add drained clams; mix until well combined. (NOTE: Save and freeze clam juice for chowder or other seafood dishes.)
  • 6. May serve immediately or cover and refrigerate until served. Garnish as desired. Cover and refrigerate leftovers.

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
2 (4.5 ounce) cans shrimp, rinsed and drained
4 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons minced onion
1 teaspoon prepared horseradish
½ teaspoon dried dill weed
1 dash vinegar-based hot pepper sauce
1 teaspoon lemon pepper
½ teaspoon paprika

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In a medium-size mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, Cheddar cheese, shrimp, mayonnaise, onion, horseradish, dill, and hot pepper sauce. Pour mixture into an 8x8 inch baking dish. Sprinkle with lemon pepper seasoning and paprika.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 25 minutes; or until the mixture is bubbly.

This is one of my favorite Dips. Accompanied with Frito Scoops, the combination is a seafarer's delight. My sister, Kathie, made ordinary clam dip special with her verision and brought this to all our family get togethers. All I can say is... Y U M !

1 - 8 ounce(s) softened cream cheese
1/3 cup(s) cottage cheese, small curd
2 tablespoon(s) mayonnaise or miracle whip
1/3 cup(s) minced onion
1/4 teaspoon(s) garlic powder (or to taste)
1 can(s) drained, minced clams

Steps:

  • MIX all ingredients well and spoon into dip bowl.
  • COVER with plastic wrap and CHILL for at least 1 hour
  • SERVE with chips or crackers. My favorites are with either Frito Lay Scoops or Triscuits. My family loves this dip. I think yours will too. Depending on the size of crowd, this recipe can be doubled, tripled or however much you want to make.
  • NOTE: I've made this with fresh minced onion or dried minced onion. I prefer the real onion, but the dried is much faster to measure with less tears!

Serve Clams Casino Dip/Spread warm or at room temp with buttery crackers (such as Townhouse or Ritz) or a good bread as an appetizer or snack. Mmmm delicious...perfect for a Super Bowl Party, or anytime. Great make-ahead dish, the flavors develop after several hours in the fridge (Chef John recommends at least four hours in the fridge), but best tasting warm or at room temperature so take out of fridge an hour before serving. 2 (6 1/2 ounce) cans minced clams, with juice
1 lb cream cheese, at room temperature (2 eight ounce boxes)
6 -8 slices bacon
1/2 tablespoon butter
1 jalapeno, minced (seeded and membrane removed)
1/2 cup small diced red bell pepper
1/3 cup small diced celery
2 minced garlic cloves
1/4 cup minced green onion, save tops for garnish
1/2 lemon, juice of
hot sauce (a few drops)
fresh ground black pepper
Ritz cracker, to serve

Steps:

  • Cut bacon into 1/4-inch pieces and saute in a skillet with the butter over medium heat 'til completely crisp; drain the fat and reserve the bacon to a plate.
  • In same pan with about 1 teaspoon of the drippings saute the jalapeno, red bell pepper, celery, garlic and green onion over medium heat until just the veggies just barely start to soften (about 3 minutes); now add the juice from one can of clams and reduce over high heat until almost all the liquid has evaporated, about another three minutes. Remove mixture to a plate and allow to cool to room temperature before adding to the cream cheese.
  • In a mixing bowl combine the cream cheese with the cooled mixture, and stir in the remaining ingredients.
  • Transfer into your serving dish and garnish top with a tablespoon or so of the crisp bacon and the green onion tops.
  • Serve warm or at room temperature with Ritz crackers or a good bread.
