Stove Top Mac-n-Cheese image

Stir together Alton Brown's kid-pleasing Stovetop Mac-and-Cheese recipe from Good Eats on Food Network and you'll never go back to the store-bought box.

Number Of Ingredients 9

1/2 pound elbow macaroni
4 tablespoons butter
2 eggs
6 ounces evaporated milk
1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
1 teaspoon kosher salt
Fresh black pepper
3/4 teaspoon dry mustard
10 ounces sharp cheddar, shredded

Steps:

  • In a large pot of boiling, salted water cook the pasta to al dente and drain. Return to the pot and melt in the butter. Toss to coat.
  • Whisk together the eggs, milk, hot sauce, salt, pepper, and mustard. Stir into the pasta and add the cheese. Over low heat continue to stir for 3 minutes or until creamy.

Easy Weeknight Bacon Mac 'n Cheese image

Number Of Ingredients 10

3 cups uncooked penne pasta (10 oz)
1 can (18 oz) Progresso™ Recipe Starters™ creamy three cheese cooking sauce
1/2 cup milk
1/4 teaspoon chopped garlic in water (from 4.5-oz jar) or 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
1 1/2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (6 oz)
2 oz American cheese loaf, shredded (1/2 cup)
1 bag (2.5 oz) cooked real bacon pieces or bits
1/2 cup diced red bell pepper, if desired
Garnish, if desired:
Progresso® Italian style panko crispy bread crumbs

Steps:

  • 1. Heat oven to 400 degrees F. Spray 2-quart casserole with cooking spray. Cook and drain pasta as directed on package.
  • 2. Meanwhile, in 3-quart saucepan, heat cooking sauce, milk and garlic to boiling. Remove from heat; stir in cheeses until melted. Stir in pasta, bacon and bell pepper. Spoon into casserole.
  • 3. Bake uncovered 20 minutes or until edges are bubbly. Sprinkle with bread crumbs.

Wilson's Own Mac n' Cheese image

2 quarts water
1 tablespoon kosher salt, plus more for seasoning
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups evaporated milk
1/2 stick butter, melted
Freshly ground black pepper
16 ounces shredded sharp Cheddar
Dust with paprika

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
  • Bring water, salt, and oil to boil over high heat Add pasta, bring back to a boil and cook until al dente, 8 to 9 minutes. Drain pasta and rinse with cold water to stop the cooking process.
  • In a large bowl, mix together eggs, evaporated milk, melted butter and salt and pepper, to taste. Stir in 3/4 of the cheese and add the pasta. Spray an 8 by 8-inch baking pan with nonstick spray and add the pasta mixture. Top with remaining cheese and dust with paprika.
  • Bake until the cheese is golden and bubbly, about 30 minutes. Serve hot.

This perfect baked macaroni cheese recipe comes with a creamy cheese sauce, a hint of mustard and uses leftover French stick for its crunchy topping

50g baguette, cut into small chunks
2 tbsp butter, plus 1 tbsp melted
350g spiral or other short pasta
1 garlic clove, finely chopped
1 tsp English mustard powder
3 tbsp plain flour
500ml whole milk
250g vegetarian mature cheddar, grated
50g parmesan (or vegetarian alternative), grated

Steps:

  • Heat the oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6. Spread the baguette chunks over a baking sheet, drizzle with the melted butter and season. Bake for 6 mins until crisp, then set aside.
  • Boil the pasta for 2 mins less than stated on the pack, then drain. Meanwhile, melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the garlic and English mustard powder, cook for 1 min, then stir in the plain flour.
  • Cook for 1 min more, then gradually whisk in the milk until you have a lump-free sauce. Simmer for 5 mins, whisking all the time until thickened. Take off the heat, then stir in the cheddar and half the parmesan.
  • Stir the pasta and some seasoning into the cheesy sauce. Tip into a large ovenproof dish, or four individual dishes.
  • Scatter over the bread and the remaining parmesan, then bake for 20 mins until crisp and golden. Can be frozen before baking - defrost thoroughly before cooking.

1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 (16 ounce) package elbow macaroni
9 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup shredded muenster cheese
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 cup shredded monterey jack cheese
1 1/2 cups half-and-half
8 ounces cubed processed cheese food
2 eggs, beaten
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil.
  • Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain well and return to cooking pot.
  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt 8 tablespoons butter; stir into the macaroni.
  • In a large bowl, combine the Muenster cheese, mild and sharp Cheddar cheeses, and Monterrey Jack cheese; mix well.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Add the half and half, 1 1/2 cups of cheese mixture, cubed processed cheese food, and eggs to macaroni; mix together and season with salt and pepper.
  • Transfer to a lightly greased deep 2 1/2 quart casserole dish.
  • Sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 cup of cheese mixture and 1 tablespoon of butter.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 35 minutes or until hot and bubbling around the edges; serve.
