Brownies with a crunchy praline topping. I cut them into squares and freeze what we don't eat in the first couple of days.

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 (20 ounce) box chewy frudge brownie mix (like Duncan Hines)
2 large eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup water
1 1/4 cups packed light brown sugar
1 1/4 cups chopped pecans
1 1/2 tablespoons melted butter

Steps:

  • Preheat oven 350 degrees.
  • Grease the bottom only of a 13x9 inch baking pan.
  • Place brownie mix into a large bowl. Stir in eggs, oil and water; mix until well combined. Spread evenly over bottom of baking pan.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together praline topping ingredients until crumbly. Sprinkle evenly over the top. A small corner may be left uncovered with the topping as a spot to test for doneness.
  • Bake 28 - 30 minutes; do not overbake. Check corner with a pick for doneness; it should come out clean with no crumbs attached.
  • Cut into squares. Freezable.

2 sticks parkay
4 ounces unsweetened chocolate
4 ounces sweet chocolate
2.25 cups sugar
6 units eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
0.5 teaspoons salt
1.25 cups flour
0.5 cups pecans
1 units praline topping
5 tablespoons parkay
0.333333333333 cups light brown sugar
3 tablespoons bourbon
2 cups powdered sugar

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line 13 x 9 metal pan with foil; grease foil.
  • 2. In heavy 3 qt saucepan over low heat, melt Parkay and chocolates stirring frequently. Remove saucepan from heat. With wire whisk, beat in sugar then eggs until well blended. Stir in vanilla, salt, then flour just until blended. Spread batter evenly in pan.
  • 3. Bake 35 minutes. Cool in pan on wire rack.
  • 4. Prepare Praline Topping: In 2-qt saucepan over medium-low heat, heat Parkay and brown sugar until mixture melts and bubbles, about 5 minutes. Remove pan from heat. With wire whisk, beat in bourbon or substitute, then confectioners' sugar, until mixture is smooth.
  • 5. With metal spatula, spread topping over room-temperature brownies; sprinkle with pecans. Cut brownies into 8 strips then cut each strip crosswise into 8 pieces.

1/3 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons water
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 large eggs
1 tsp.vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup pecans, chopped
2 -3 tablespoons Bourbon
1 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup milk
1 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon almond extract
3/4 cup pecans, chopped

Steps:

  • BROWNIES:.
  • In large saucepan, combine the butter, sugar, and water. Cook, over medium heat, until just boiling. Add chocolate chips, and stir until melted. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
  • Stir in the eggs, bourbon, and vanilla, and beat lightly. Stir in the flour, baking soda, salt and pecans and mix well.
  • Spread the batter into prepared 8x8 baking dish. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 20 minutes and cool in the pan. Top with Praline Icing.
  • PRALINE ICING:.
  • In a medium saucepan, over medium heat, bring the first 3 ingredients to a boil. Boil for one minute, whisking constantly.
  • Remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar and almond extract until smooth. Add pecans and continue to stir for about 3 minutes or until the mixture begins to thicken.
  • Pour onto cooled brownies. Makes 1 1/2 cups.
