Pillsburys Scottish Reels Food
PILLSBURY'S SCOTTISH REELS
A bakeoff recipe; I haven't tried it yet. They frosted theirs with a chocolate cream cheese frosting. You could either make this from scratch or choose a tub of premade chocolate frosting.

Steps:
- Melt the chocolate; I prefer melting in the microwave for just a few seconds, stirring, repeat until it's done.
- Combine that and everything else except the topping stuff. Chill at least 1 hour.
- Combine oats and 2 T. confectioners sugar.
- Drop chilled dough by rounded teaspoon onto greased cookie sheets. Flatten to about 1/4-inch with glass greased and dipped in the oat and sugar mixture.
- Bake at 350 for 12 - 15 minutes. Cool; then frost.

Steps:
- In a small saucepan, melt the chocolate chips over low, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in pepper extract. Set aside in cool.
- In a large bowl, combine remaining incredients. Blend well. Stir in melted chocolate, only until till blended, not overly.
- Shape into balls, using a rounded teaspoon. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten with bottom of glass, which has been greased and dipped into sugar.
- Bake at 375 for 8-10 minutes. Cool.

Reels originated in Scotland and later became part of other styles of fiddling, such as Irish fiddling. Reels are played fairly quickly and crisply. A Scottish reel has an even-structured driving rhythm, and the time signature is written in either 4/4 or 2/4. Reels accent beat 1 and 3 of each measure. This applies to Scottish reels as well.
