Pasta Marco Polo image

This is a spicy sesame linguine that pairs well with Thai food. If you can't find spicy sesame linguine, any fine noodle can be substituted.

1/2 cup chicken stock
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon sherry wine
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/2 tablespoon chili paste with garlic
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon gingerroot, minced
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup sesame seeds
4 scallions, sliced on the diagonal
1 (12 ounce) bag of spicy sesame linguine

Steps:

  • Put a large pot of water on to boil for pasta.
  • Combine sauce ingredients and gently heat. Stir until thickened.
  • Toast sesame seeds in a small fry pan until fragrant. Do not over brown.
  • In the meantime, cook the pasta until tender but firm. Drain.
  • Toss the pasta with the sauce and garnish with scallions and sesame seeds.

1 lb spaghetti
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
black pepper
1 (6 ounce) can tuna packed in oil, flaked, undrained
2 tablespoons pimiento, diced or 2 tablespoons roasted red peppers, sliced into strips
2 tablespoons green onions with tops, sliced
2 tablespoons black olives, sliced
2 tablespoons walnuts, chopped
1/3 cup swiss cheese, shredded
2 tablespoons fresh parsley or 2 tablespoons cilantro, chopped

Steps:

  • Cook pasta according to package directions.
  • Drain pasta and return to pot, stirring in butter, olive oil, and salt and pepper.
  • Toss with remaining ingredients and serve, garnished with parsley or cilantro.

16 oz spaghetti or linguine
2 can(s) tuna, canned
1 can(s) black olives, sliced
1 bunch green onions, cleaned and chopped. include green parts
4 oz mozzarella cheese, grated
4 oz swiss cheese, grated
1 bunch fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped
1 c walnuts, chopped
2 Tbsp butter
2 Tbsp parmesan cheese, grated
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • 1. Boil linguine or spaghetti noodles per package directions.
  • 2. While water is heating, prepare all other ingredients.
  • 3. Drain noodles in a colander. Put other ingredients into the pot except for Parmesan cheese and parsley. Put hot, drained noodles on top and wait a few minutes.
  • 4. Carefully combine ingredients by stirring gently. You want the cheese and butter to melt into the noodles and the rest of the ingredients to be well combined.
  • 5. Turn into a serving dish and sprinkle with the Parmesan and parsley. Add more salt and pepper per your taste.
