1 1/2 pounds of ground beef
2 tablespoons of butter
1 onion, chopped
1 clove of garlic, minced
3 tablespoons of chili powder
1 tablespoon of yellow mustard
1 6-ounce can of tomato paste
1 6-ounce can of water
12-ounce pack of Nathan's skinless beef hot dogs
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • In a skillet, add the butter and onions. Saute until tender.
  • Next, add in the garlic and saute for a minute longer.
  • Now, add in the ground beef, chili powder, mustard, tomato paste, water, and salt and pepper. Mix together.
  • Cook over medium heat for about 20-25 minutes. Turn to simmer and let the mixture continue cooking while you prep the hot dogs.
  • Grind up the hot dogs or mince finely.
  • Add to the ground beef mixture and let it cook for another 15 minutes to let everything come together.
  • Serve over your favorite hot dogs and enjoy it!

This recipe is quick to prepare and is ready in about 15-minutes. But this hot dog chili recipe isn't just for a hot dog condiment, it's great for topping brats, burgers, quesadillas, chicken, and french fries, too! This recipe is also vendor approved!

1 lb. Ground beef, extra lean
1/2 cup Onion (, finely chopped)
Salt and pepper (, to taste)
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
2 cloves Garlic (, minced into a paste)
1 tbsp. Chili Powder
1/4 tsp. Ground Cumin
1 cup Tomato sauce
1/2 cup Water

Steps:

  • Place the ground beef and onion in a large skillet. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • As the meat browns, crumble the beef into small pieces until the beef is no longer pink and onion is soft and translucent. If necessary, drain any excess oil.
  • Next, add the Worcestershire sauce, garlic, chili powder, cumin, tomato sauce and water.
  • Bring mixture to a boil, reduce heat to low.
  • Simmer until chili sauce reaches desired consistency.

3 to 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 pounds ground beef (or use half ground pork)
2 medium garlic cloves (finely minced)
1/4 cup tomato paste
1 onion (finely chopped)
2 cups beef broth
5 tablespoons chili powder
6 tablespoons cornmeal (or masa harina)
2 teaspoons sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 bay leaves

Steps:

  • Heat oil and saute garlic and onion until lightly golden, about 7 to 9 minutes.
  • Add chili powder, sugar, and cumin. Continue cooking, stirring constantly, for 2 minutes.
  • Add ground beef and cook, stirring, until evenly browned. Stir in remaining ingredients; reduce heat to low and simmer until very thick, 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Discard bay leaf.

2 lbs ground chuck
16 ounces tomato sauce
2 cups water
1/4 cup barbecue sauce (K.C. Masterpiece, or hickory smoked)
2 tablespoons dried onion flakes
1 1/2 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon dried ancho chile powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
3 medium onions, chopped
1 chicken bouillon cube (Maggi cube)
1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped fine
1/4 cup prepared yellow mustard
1 tablespoon honey

Steps:

  • Brown and drain the ground chuck and put into a large cooking pot.
  • Add all ingredients, except for one cup of water and the bouillon cube. Bring the sauce to a slow boil over low heat.
  • Mash the bouillon cube in the cup of water and add to the sauce. (If you do not have a Maggi bouillon cube, just use 1 1/2 regular chicken bouillon cubes).
  • Allow the sauce to simmer, covered, over very low heat, stirring occasionally, for 2 hours.
  • Serve over hot dogs.
  • My personal preferences for ingredient brands are Heinz mustard and Tupelo honey but any brands will do.

½ (10 ounce) can tomato sauce
½ cup ketchup

1 dash Worcestershire sauce

Steps:

  • Place ground beef in a large saucepan with water and mash the beef with a potato masher to break apart. Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, chili powder, salt, black pepper, sugar, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil and cook over medium heat until the chili has thickened slightly and the beef is fully cooked, about 20 minutes.

1 pound ground beef
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 cup ketchup
8 hot dogs
8 hot dog buns, split
Optional: Shredded cheddar cheese and chopped onion

Steps:

  • For chili, in a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat 5-7 minutes or until no longer pink, breaking into crumbles; drain. Transfer beef to a food processor; pulse until finely chopped., Return beef to skillet; stir in seasonings and ketchup. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, covered, 15-20 minutes to allow flavors to blend, stirring occasionally. , Meanwhile, cook hot dogs according to package directions. Serve in buns with chili. If desired, top with cheese and onion. Freeze option: Freeze cooled chili in a freezer container. To use, partially thaw in refrigerator overnight.
