CRISPY BAKED SHRIMP IN LEMON BUTTER SAUCE (PRAWNS)

Crispy Baked Shrimp in Lemon Butter Sauce (Prawns) image

Recipe video above. People call this Magic Baked Shrimp - named as such because it's so simple to make, yet it tastes like a million bucks! Shrimp (prawns) baked in a white wine-butter reduction with lemon and garlic, with a crunchy parmesan breadcrumb topping! Don't skip crust bread for dunking in the incredible sauce! It's basically a crunchy version of Shrimp Scampi!

Provided by Nagi

Categories     Mains

Number Of Ingredients 13

500g/ 1 lb jumbo prawns/shrimp (, peeled and deveined (Note 1))
3/4 cup dry white wine ((sub chicken broth))
75g/ 5 tbsp unsalted butter (, melted)
2 tbsp lemon juice
3 garlic cloves (, minced)
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
3/4 cup panko breadcrumbs ((Note 2))
1/4 cup parmesan (, finely shredded)
1/4 tsp salt
1.5 tbsp olive oil
Finely chopped parsley
Lemon

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 220°C/430°F (all oven types).

  • Remove pan from oven. Add prawns - spread out in single layer, but snug.
  • Top with Crunchy Topping. Bake 12 minutes.
  • Flick to broiler/grill on high, broil for 1 - 2 minutes (max) to brown top a bit more.
  • Sprinkle with parsley. Serve immediately with lemon wedges and crusty bread to mop up the incredible sauce!

Categories     main-dish

Time 40m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/4 pound (1 stick) unsalted butter
2 tablespoons good olive oil
2 tablespoons minced garlic (6 cloves)
2 teaspoons minced fresh rosemary leaves
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
2 large lemons
2 pounds (8- to 10-count) shrimp, peeled with the tails on
1 teaspoon coarse sea salt
4 slices country bread, toasted

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  • Melt the butter over low heat in a medium (10-inch) saute pan. Add the olive oil, garlic, rosemary, red pepper flakes, 1 teaspoon kosher salt, and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper and cook over low heat for one minute. Off the heat, zest one of the lemons directly into the butter mixture.
  • Meanwhile, arrange the shrimp snugly in one layer in a large (12-inch) round ovenproof sauté pan (or 10 × 13-inch baking dish) with only the tails overlapping. Pour the butter mixture over the shrimp. Sprinkle with the sea salt and 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. Slice the ends off the zested lemon, cut five (1/4-inch-thick) slices, and tuck them among the shrimp. Roast for 12 to 15 minutes, just until the shrimp are firm, pink, and cooked through. Cut the remaining lemon in half and squeeze the juice onto the shrimp. Serve hot with the toasted bread for dipping into the garlic butter.

Provided by Food Network Kitchen

Categories     main-dish

Time 55m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 12

Nonstick cooking spray
1 pound large shrimp (16/20 count), peeled and deveined, tails on
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs
1 cup panko breadcrumbs
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons chopped pickled jalapenos
2 tablespoons whole grain mustard
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 tablespoon hot sauce
1 scallion, thinly sliced

Steps:

  • For the fried shrimp: Spray the basket of a 3.5-quart air fryer with cooking spray and set aside. Pat the shrimp dry between a couple paper towels, then season with a pinch of salt and a few grinds of black pepper.
  • Whisk the flour with 3/4 teaspoon salt and few grinds of pepper in a shallow bowl or baking dish. Whisk the eggs with a pinch of salt in another shallow bowl. Add the panko to a third shallow bowl. Dip a shrimp in the seasoned flour, shaking off any excess, then dip in the beaten eggs. Dredge in the panko, turning until evenly coated. Transfer to a large plate or a rimmed baking sheet and repeat with the remaining shrimp.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 385 degrees F. Working in batches, place some of the shrimp in a single layer in the fryer basket, then spray lightly with more cooking spray. Cook until the shrimp are golden brown and cooked through, flipping halfway through, about 10 minutes.
  • For the spicy remoulade sauce: Meanwhile, stir together the mayonnaise, pickled jalapenos, mustard, ketchup, hot sauce and scallion in a small bowl until smooth. Serve with the fried shrimp for dipping.

OVEN FRIED PRAWNS

Oven Fried Prawns image

One of my most favorite meals is Fried Prawns. I developed this recipe from one that was way to salty and had other ingredients in it that my family would not like. But I liked the fact that you bake them in the oven instead of deep frying them and end up with Prawns that you would swear were in fact deep fried. They are very...

  • 9. Press shrimp in oil on both sides. Add more oil as needed to coat all shrimp.
  • 10. Set slightly apart in baking pan.
  • 11. Bake shrimp until browned on bottom, about 8 minutes; then turn over and bake for an additional 8 minutes until golden brown and opaque but still moist-looking in center of thickest part.
  • 12. Enjoy this Oven Fried Prawn dinner with my Easy Homemade Tartar Sauce recipe that has already been posted.
  • 13. Make Ahead Hint: Bread Shrimp early in day and chill uncovered in refrigerator for 3 to 4 hours (the coating dries out and the Shrimp gets crisper). I highly recommend doing this!

SOUTHERN-FRIED PRAWNS

Southern-fried prawns image

Experiment with Southern-style coating on prawns, instead of chicken. These moreish prawns have a crispy, spicy coating and taste great with a hot gumbo dip and lemon wedges

Provided by Tom Kerridge

Categories     Side dish

Time 20m

Number Of Ingredients 13

sunflower oil , for deep-frying
½ bunch of coriander , leaves picked, to serve
1 lemon , zested (optional) and cut into wedges to serve
100ml buttermilk
½ tsp garlic granules
1 tsp ground ginger
18 jumbo raw prawns , head left on, tails peeled, butterflied
100g plain flour
1 tbsp cornflour
½ tsp cayenne pepper
½ tsp dried thyme
½ tsp ground coriander
50g cornflakes , crushed to fine crumbs

Steps:

  • To prepare the prawns, mix the buttermilk, garlic granules and ground ginger together in a bowl. Add the prawns and stir to coat, then chill for at least 30 mins or overnight.
  • Meanwhile, make the coating by combining all of the ingredients with a pinch of salt in a shallow dish. Set aside.
  • Allow any excess buttermilk marinade to drip off the prawns, then dip in the coating mixture, turning to ensure an even covering.
  • Heat a deep-fat fryer no more than a third full of oil to 180C. Or, heat the oil to a depth of 10cm in a pan until a cube of bread sizzles and turns golden in 30 seconds. Carefully lower 3-4 prawns into the oil at a time and deep-fry for 2 mins, or until crisp and golden. Transfer to a plate lined with kitchen paper using a slotted spoon, then season and sprinkle with the coriander leaves and lemon zest, if you like. Serve with the hot gumbo dip (see below) and some lemon wedges for squeezing over.

EASY BACON WRAPPED PRAWNS

Easy Bacon Wrapped Prawns image

This recipe is a lot easier than other bacon-wrapped prawn recipes I've seen. It's simple and delicious.

Provided by Julesong

Categories     Pork

Time 30m

Yield 1 batch

Number Of Ingredients 4

6 large prawns, per person you're serving, shelled and deveined
6 pieces of raw bacon, 5-6 inches per slice, one for each shrimp
1 -2 cup spicy barbecue sauce
cayenne (optional) or prepared horseradish, to taste (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Wrap a slice of bacon around each large prawn.
  • Secure bacon by skewering each shrimp and bacon slice through with a toothpick.
  • Place in baking dish or on baking tray.
  • Add cayenne or horseradish (or both) to taste to the BBQ sauce (you can substitute Tabasco, if you like - the point is for the sauce to have a little kick), then brush each shrimp/bacon with BBQ sauce. (Or you can dip each one in the sauce before putting it on the tray.)
  • Bake in oven for about 20-25 minutes or until bacon is thoroughly cooked through - if the bacon isn't crisping as much as you'd like, try broiling it for the last 5 minutes, being careful to check that the sauce isn't burning and so on.
