Outback Steakhouse makes an incredible baked sweet potato and you can too!

4 6 ounce sweet potatoes
2 cups butter, softened
1/4 cup honey
1 tablespoon dark brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Wash the sweet potato and wrap it with foil. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake potato for approximately 1 hour, or until you can easily pierce the potato with a fork.
  • While the potato is baking use a mixer to mix together the butter and honey until the texture is uniform. To serve remove the foil and split the potato open with a knife. Top with the brown sugar, cinnamon, and finally a scoop of the honey butter. Store leftover honey butter in the refrigerator.
  • Serve each potato with 2 tablespoons of the honey butter.

  • Rub outside of potato with shortening and sprinkle with kosher salt. Bake the potato at 350°F for 45 to 60 minutes (until soft).
  • Split the potato. Whip together butter and honey and put inside. Sprinkle with cinnamon and serve.

1 lb peeled, diced into 1-inch cubes russet potatoes
2 large, peeled and trimmed garlic cloves
6 tbsp hot milk
2 tbsp at room temperature unsalted butter
1 tbsp chopped parsley
to taste salt
2 tsp ground white pepper
4 cups or enough to cover the potatoes water
¼ cup per serving gravy
a sprinkle per serving, chopped parsley or green onions

Steps:

  • Boil the russet potatoes and garlic in a large covered pot.
  • Reduce the heat, and simmer for about 20 minutes, until the potatoes are tender.
  • Transfer the potatoes into a mixing bowl.
  • Drain and reserve ¼ cup of water.
  • While warm, mash the potatoes and garlic together into a bowl using either a masher or food mill.
  • Add the unsalted butter, reserved water, milk, white pepper, and parsley.
  • Season the mash with salt. Mix until combined. Adjust accordingly.
  • Serve with gravy.

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/3 cup cream
1 green onion, chopped
1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Steps:

  • Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  • Add the onions and cook, stirring for 10 minutes or until tender.
  • Remove from the heat and stir in the flour, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Slowly add the milk, stirring until smooth.
  • Add the vegetable broth a third at a time, stirring after each addition until well blended.
  • Place over low heat, stirring until creamy, thickened, and hot.
  • Add the cheddar cheese and cream and stir to melt the cheese.
