1 (21 ounce) package fudge brownie mix
1 tablespoon orange extract
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Prepare brownie mix as directed on package. Stir in orange extract and chocolate chips. Spread in greased 13x9-inch baking pan.
  • Bake and cool as directed on package.
  • Orange-Kissed Frosting: Stir 1 teaspoon McCormick® Pure Orange Extract into 1 container (16 ounces) chocolate frosting until well blended.
  • Spread with Orange-Kissed Chocolate Frosting, if desired. Cut into squares.
  • Variations: For Raspberry Brownies: Use 4 teaspoons McCormick® Raspberry Extract in place of the orange extract in the brownie and 2 teaspoons in the frosting.
  • For Almond Brownies: Use 1/2 teaspoon McCormick® Pure Almond Extract in place of the orange extract in the brownie and 1/4 teaspoon in the frosting.
  • For Peppermint Brownies: Use 1/2 teaspoon McCormick® Pure Peppermint Extract in place of the orange extract in the brownie and 1/4 teaspoon in the frosting.
  • For Mexican Chocolate Brownies: Use 1 tablespoon McCormick® Pure Vanilla Extract and 1 teaspoon McCormick® Ground Cinnamon in place of the orange extract in the brownie and 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon in the frosting.

I have to give my husband credit for this idea-since we love chocolate and orange together, he suggested I come up with this recipe. Now they're not only his favorite, but also the whole family's. 3/4 cup butter, cubed
4 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped
3 large eggs, room temperature
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon orange extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • In a microwave, melt butter and chocolate; stir until smooth. Cool slightly. In a large bowl, beat eggs and sugar. Stir in chocolate mixture. Beat in extract. Gradually add flour to chocolate mixture., Pour into a greased 13x9-in. baking dish. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Bake at 350° for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean (do not overbake). , Cool completely on a wire rack. Cut into squares. Just before serving, sprinkle with confectioners' sugar.

200g butter, chopped
200g dark chocolate, roughly chopped
zest 1 large orange
4 large eggs
350g caster sugar
100g plain flour
50g cocoa powder
100g dark chocolate orange, chopped

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4 and line a 24 x 20cm brownie tin with baking parchment. Put the butter, dark chocolate and orange zest in a non-stick saucepan and very gently melt over a low heat, stirring every now and then, until smooth - take care not to overheat it. Cool.
  • Whisk the eggs and sugar together with an electric whisk until the mixture is pale, has doubled in volume and leaves a trail when the beaters are lifted. Gently stir into the cooled chocolate mixture. Sift over the flour and cocoa, stir in, then add the orange chocolate.
  • Pour into the lined tin and bake for 35-40 mins. Cool in the tin, then cut into squares.

4 eggs
2 cups sugar
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup unsweetened dutch cocoa
1 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon orange peel, finely shredded
3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
2 -3 tablespoons orange juice
4 ounces semisweet chocolate
1/2 cup butter
2 tablespoons corn syrup, light color

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 13x9x2-inch baking pan with heavy foil, extending foil over the edges of the pan. Lightly grease foil. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, combine eggs and sugar. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for 3 to 5 minutes or until mixture is pale yellow and thickened. In a small bowl, whisk together flour and cocoa powder. Add flour mixture to egg mixture, beating just until smooth. Using a wooden spoon, stir in the melted butter until combined. Spread batter evenly in prepared pan.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack.
  • Meanwhile, for frosting: In a large bowl, combine the 1/4 cup butter and the orange peel. Beat on medium speed until smooth. Add 1 cup of the powdered sugar and 1 tablespoon of the orange juice, beating until combined. Beat in the remaining 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar and enough of the remaining 1 to 2 tablespoons orange juice to make a frosting of spreading consistency. Spread frosting evenly over cooled brownies. Cover and chill for 30 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan, combine semisweet chocolate and the 1/2 cup butter. Cook and stir over low heat until melted and smooth. Remove from heat; stir in corn syrup. Cool for 15 minutes.
  • Slowly pour melted chocolate mixture over the frosted brownies. Tilt pan gently to spread chocolate over the whole top. Chill about 30 minutes or until chocolate is set. Using the edges of the foil, lift the uncut brownies out of the pan. Cut into bars. Makes 32 bars.
  • To Store: Place bars in a single layer in an airtight container; cover. Store in the refrigerator for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months. To serve, thaw bars if frozen. Let refrigerated bars stand at room temperature about 15 minutes before serving.
