One Pan South Indian Chicken Semi Gravy Recipe by Tasty image

Here's what you need: boneless chicken breast, red onion, medium tomato, ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, black pepper, coriander powder, garam masala powder, cumin powder, salt, curry leaves, fresh mint leaf, fresh cilantro, lemon juice, peanut oil, water

Number Of Ingredients 17

1 ½ lb boneless chicken breast, cut into small pieces
red onion, finely chopped
1 medium tomato, finely chopped
1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
½ teaspoon turmeric powder
½ teaspoon red chili powder
½ teaspoon black pepper
2 teaspoons coriander powder
1 teaspoon garam masala powder
½ teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 strand curry leaves
2 tablespoons fresh mint leaf, loosely packed
2 tablespoons fresh cilantro, finely chopped
½ teaspoon lemon juice, freshly squeezed
2 tablespoons peanut oil, (Or any other prefered oil)
¼ cup water

Steps:

  • Heat the oil in a pan at medium heat. Then, add onions, curry leaves, cilantro, and mint. Saute on medium heat until golden brown.
  • Once golden brown, add ginger garlic paste and saute until the raw smell goes away.
  • Now add all the dry ingredients and stir together. Then, add the chopped tomatoes. Mix and cook uncovered for one minute.
  • After that, add the chicken and lemon juice. Combine well.
  • Add water. Cover for 8-10 minutes until chicken is cooked.
  • Remove the lid and leave open for one minute. After one minute, the gravy should be thick in consistency.
  • Adjust salt and garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Serve warm alongside fresh rice or naan.

Here's what you need: mushroom, vegetable oil, cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, cumin seed, white onion, turmeric powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder, coriander powder, chili powder, ginger garlic paste, green chillis, curry leaf, tomato, water, salt, coriander leaf

Number Of Ingredients 18

½ lb mushroom, sliced
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cinnamon stick
3 cardamom pods
½ teaspoon cumin seed
1 white onion, finely chopped
½ teaspoon turmeric powder
½ teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon garam masala powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
2 teaspoons chili powder, to taste
1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
3 green chillis
curry leaf
1 tomato, chopped roughly
water
salt, to taste
coriander leaf

Steps:

  • Heat oil in a pan and add cinnamon stick, cardamom, and cumin seeds. Let roast and, after a few seconds, add finely chopped onions and salt and saute until golden.
  • Once the onions are golden and tender, add the masalas (spices) as follows: ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, cumin powder, garam masala, coriander powder, red chili powder, green chilies, and curry leaves.
  • Mix all the ingredients well and then add chopped tomato, and a little bit of water (¼ cup) and cook until everything turns soft (5-6 minutes). You can also add ¼ cup (65 G) tomato paste in place of the 1 tomato to get a very smooth gravy.
  • Once the oil starts to separate, add the cleaned and sliced mushrooms and mix them well with the masala mixture. Cook for 3-4 minutes. Then, add ¼ cup (or slightly more) required water and cook until the mushrooms are fully done. You should have a gravy-esque consistency: something that can be mixed with rice or accompanied by naan or roti or an equivalent flatbread.
  • Finally, garnish with chopped coriander leaves and turn off the heat. If desired, add 1 tsp of ghee on the top to enhance the flavor.
  • Serve with rice or naan. Enjoy!

4 skin-on chicken thighs
salt and ground black pepper to taste
¼ cup butter, divided
½ red onion, sliced
8 cloves garlic, minced
4 baby red potatoes, quartered
1 red bell pepper, diced
⅓ cup sriracha sauce
⅓ cup brown sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Season chicken thighs with salt and pepper.
  • Melt 3 tablespoons butter in a large oven-proof skillet over medium-high heat. Place chicken skin-side down in the skillet; cook until browned, about 3 minutes. Flip and cook until second side is browned, 3 to 4 minutes. Transfer to a plate. Drain excess grease if desired.
  • Heat remaining 1 tablespoon butter in the skillet. Add onion and garlic; cook and stir until fragrant, about 2 minutes. Stir in potatoes and red bell pepper; cook until tender, 5 to 10 minutes. Place chicken thighs on top.
  • Mix sriracha sauce and brown sugar together in a bowl; pour evenly over chicken.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until an instant-read thermometer inserted into the chicken reads 165 degrees F (74 degrees C) and potatoes are browned, about 30 minutes.
