We've been making this recipe for over twenty years. It was a favorite potluck appetizer recipe shared by a previous co-worker.

2 cans shrimp
1 small onion, chopped fine
1 dash Worcestershire sauce
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, plus
1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese
3/4 cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon horseradish
2 tablespoons ketchup
2 teaspoons dill weed

Steps:

  • Make one day ahead.
  • Let cream cheese rest at room temperature until soft.
  • Mash all ingredients together (a potato masher works great).
  • Chill before serving, at least one day.

I found this recipe on a can of Campbells Cream of Shrimp Soup many many years ago. If you would like to add extra shrimp I guess it might add a little extra taste but it is not necessary. It is very quick to put together and gives a nice presentation with its light pink color.

10 1/4 ounces cream of shrimp soup (I use Campbell's)
1/2-1 teaspoon louisiana hot sauce (I use Franks)
1/4 cup finely chopped celery
1 tablespoon finely chopped onion (or to taste)

Steps:

  • Stir cream cheese until smooth. Stir in soup, hot sauce, celery and onion. Refrigerate at least 4 hours before serving.
  • Serve with chips, crackers or veggies.

This is so easy and tastes so good. I had lost this recipe years ago and just found it on Cooks.Com. I'm guessing at the weight of the jar of shrimp cocktail. It comes in a jar with a lid that you pop off and is found in the fresh seafood dept. at the grocery store. I believe the brand is Sau-Sea and are individual serving size. It is best to make the day before for the flavors to meld together.

1 (6 ounce) can shrimp
1/2 onion
garlic powder
1 dash hot sauce
1 tablespoon mayonnaise

  • Put onion and drained shrimp in the bowl of a food processor and chop fine.
  • Add cream cheese and blend well.
  • Add mayonnaise to make it blend a little smoother.
  • Add garlic powder and hot sauce.

1/2 cup mayonnaise
8 ounces cream cheese
2 ounces fancy shredded cheddar cheese
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (separated in half)
1 dash salt and pepper
1 dash cayenne pepper (optional)

Steps:

  • Cream together cream cheese and mayo.
  • Stir in remaining ingredients except Worcestershire, using a WOODEN SPOON.
  • Add 1/2 the Worcestershire; mix and taste before adding any more.
  • Chill well at least a hour.
  • garnish with shrimp or cheese and paprika.
