OLD FASHIONED BANANA NUT BREAD
A good basic banana bread recipe made with ingredients that you probably have on hand. Freezes well.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Mix butter and sugar together until smooth.
- Mix baking soda and sour milk or orange juice, and set aside.
- Add eggs, bananas, baking soda mixture, and flour to butter and sugar mixture, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in nuts.
- Pour into greased or buttered loaf pan.
- Bake at 350 for 1 hour.
- Cool completely before slicing.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350*.
- Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into large bowl.
- Add egg, shortning, milk and vanilla.
- Stir until all is moistened.
- Stir in the walnuts.
- Bake in a 9x5 loaf pan for 1 hour, 20 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean.
OLD FASHIONED BANANA BREAD
A recipe from defunct magazine, City and Country Home. I've never tasted better. Delicious warm or cold, cut in slices and buttered. I actually prefer it after its been cooled down and refrigerated. The texture is more chewy and moist.

Steps:
- Cream butter; gradually add sugars. Beat in egg until mixture is light. Sitr in bananas mashed together with milk. Sift together flour, baking soda and salt and add to banana mixture. Sitr only until combined. Add walnuts.
- Turn batter into a greased loaf pan and bake at 350F for 1 1/2 hours or until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean.
- Makes 1 loaf.

OLD-FASHIONED DATE NUT BREAD
Steps:
- Pour boiling water over dates and let sit for 15 minutes.
- Beat sugar, egg and oil for 3 minutes on high speed of mixer.
- Blend in date mixture and vanilla.
- Combine flour, baking soda, salt and baking powder.
- Add dry mixture, alternately with yogurt, to beaten mixture.
- Blend well.
- Stir in nuts.
- Pour batter into 4 greased mini loaf pans (3 1/4 x 5 3/4")
- Use about 1 cup batter for each pan.
- They should look about half full.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes or until cake taster comes out clean.
- Cool on wire rack.

- PREHEAT oven to 350°F Grease 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.
- Combine flour, pumpkin pie spice, baking powder, salt and baking soda in medium bowl. Blend pumpkin, granulated sugar, brown sugar, evaporated milk, egg, egg white and oil in large mixer bowl. Add flour mixture; mix just until moistened. Pour into prepared loaf pan; sprinkle with nuts.
- Bake for 60 to 65 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack for 10 minutes; remove to wire rack to cool completely.

- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and butter the bottom and sides of a standard loaf pan. Start by adding brown sugar and melted butter to a large mixing bowl and beating them together. Add in the vanilla and egg and mix to combine.
- In a separate bowl, add all purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon and salt and sift together before adding the dry ingredients to your wet ingredients. Lightly mix together until just combined.
- Remove the peels from your over-ripe bananas and put them into a small bowl. Using the back of a fork, mash your bananas well and then pour them into your banana bread batter. Add the walnuts to the batter as well and then using a large spoon or spatula, stir by hand a few swipes until everything is incorporated.
- Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan and bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted. Let the Banana Walnut Bread cool for 15 minutes before running a knife around the inside edge of the baking pan and turning the bread out upside down. Turn your banana bread right side up and move to a cooling rack to cool completely.
