APPLE DIP

Apple Dip image

This is a great dip for sliced apples of any kind. The recipe uses the plain toffee bits but I accidently bought the kind with chocolate once and used them anyway and it was still really good.

NANNY'S FAMOUS CHEESE DIP

Nanny's Famous Cheese Dip image

This dip is soooo good! We always had it when we gathered together to watch the big game! Serve it in your crockpot on the warm setting. Have lots of tortilla chips on hand because I've yet to see a person only eat ONE helping of this dip!! ;-)

1 lb sausage, cooked and drained
2 tablespoons garlic, minced

  • In your large crock pot, empty the 2 cans of Rotel,
  • break the cheese into chunks and add it.
  • Add the garlic and sausage.
  • Heat it on high until the cheese melts, stirring often.
  • Turn the crock pot to the warm setting for serving.
  • Ladle this dip over a plate of tortilla chips and enjoy!

NANNY'S SWEET WHITE SAUCE

Nanny's Sweet White Sauce image

Another old family recipe from my Canadian turned naturalized US citizen Grandmother. This is a dessert white sauce, served warm over your choice of cake. My Grandmother used to serve it over an apple cake or her walnut cake (Recipe #360999). Definitely fits in the comfort food category and makes for an elegant, but simple, dessert. It will enhance the flavor of your cake, not overpower it.

Time 20m

Yield 2 cups, 6-8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 cups milk
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup sugar
3 tablespoons flour
5 tablespoons water
nutmeg
cinnamon

Steps:

  • Put milk in medium size sauce pan, bring to a gentle simmer.
  • Add beaten egg, blending continuously with whisk.
  • Add sugar; continue to whisk.
  • Mix flour with water. Add slowly to mixture, still whisking.
  • Stir mixture till it becomes thick, but still "pourable.".
  • Sprinkle with nutmeg and cinnamon.
  • Serve warm, ladled over individual cake slices. (I recommend my Grandmothers cake, Recipe #360999).
