THE BEST FRUIT SALAD EVER

The Best Fruit Salad Ever image

My mother made this once but it had raisins (I don't like raisins) So I took her Fruit Salad, experimented with it for awhile, and then I had THE BEST Fruit Salad EVER! Very easy to make and my favorite way to eat fruit :D

Provided by Dolphin 1

Categories     Frozen Desserts

Time 15m

Yield 6-7 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 fresh cantaloupe
15 ounces dark sweet cherries (1 can or 3 and 1/2 cups fresh)
2 cups seedless grapes (whatever kind you prefer)
2 fresh bananas
2 cups fresh strawberries
1 apple
3 cups marshmallows
8 ounces strawberry yogurt
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (or "a dash")
1 tablespoon honey (or "a squirt")
2 1/2 cups Cool Whip (10 ounces)

Steps:

  • Chop all fruit into bite sized pieces. You CAN cut the grapes and cherries, but I usually do not.
  • Throw all the fruit into a very large bowl and add cool whip, yogurt, marshmallows.
  • Add powdered sugar, cinnamon, and honey.
  • I usually freeze this, but tastes good in the refrigerator, too! Although, fruit doesn't keep as long in refrigerator, and the freezy treat is tastier to me :D.

The perfect fruit salad for a backyard bbq or any occasion. There are never leftovers! This is one of my favorite fruit salad recipes, as I think the sauce really makes it. MY FIVE FAVORITE SUMMER SALAD DRESSINGS!

My Five Favorite Summer Salad Dressings! image

I use the lemon, tangerine and citrus vinaigrettes on almost any salad! They are very versatile. I save the raspberry vinaigrette for greens with berries, apples, nuts, soft cheeses etc..., the traditional balsamic is great on just about anything too, I tend to serve it with salads heavy with veggies like tomatoes, cukes, and avocado or on my traditional house salad (recipe at bottom of page).

Provided by Linda Spiker

Time 3m

Number Of Ingredients 35

1/2 cup good quality extra virgin olive oil
1/4 cup fresh squeezed lemon Juice
2 Tablespoons green onions, sliced
1 Tablespoon honey
pinch sea salt
freshly ground pepper
1/2 cup good quality extra virgin olive oil
1/4 cup A'Olivier Raspberry Vinegar. Trust me! You can find it at stores or buy online. See link above.
1 Tablespoon honey
Juice of half a lemon
1 Tablespoon chives, chopped
pinch sea salt
freshly ground pepper
1/2 cup good quality extra virgin olive oil
1/4 cup quality balsamic vinegar
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
2 Tablespoons green onions, sliced
pinch sea salt
freshly ground pepper
1/2 cup good quality extra virgin olive oil
zest of one lemon
juice of 1 orange, 1 lemon, 1 lime
1 teaspoon mustard
1 tablespoon white balsamic
1 tablespoon honey
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon shallot, peeled and chopped
pinch sea salt
freshly ground pepper
1/2 cup good quality extra virgin olive oil
1/4 cup fresh tangerine juice
2 teaspoon honey
zest and juice of 1 small lemon
pinch sea salt
freshly ground pepper

Steps:

  • Place all in ingredients in a bowl and whisk. Store in mason jars and refrigerate for up to a week.
  • Alternative method for Citrus Vinaigrette: If you would like a thick creamy version of this dressing (really nice!) put all ingredients in blender except olive oil. Blend, then drizzle olive oil in steadily. Dressing will emulsify and become thick and creamy.

MY FAVORITE FRUIT SALAD

My Favorite Fruit Salad image

I love fruit... it's my favorite go to snack. Whenever I go to a potluck picnic or brunch I always throw together a huge bowl of this salad and almost never have any left to take home.

Provided by Marina Neff

Categories     Fruit Sides

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 12

3 large apples, cored and diced
1 large can pineapple chunks in natural juices (drained)
1 large can peaches in natural juices, (drained) or 4 large peaches pitted and sliced
1 large bunch seedless grapes... red or green
3 - 4 large bananas sliced
2 lb fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
1 lb fresh blueberries
1 jar(s) maraschino cherries, (drained)
1 pt vanilla yogurt
1 c orangejuice
1 can(s) angel flake cocoanut (optional)
1 pkg miniature marshmallows (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. in a large serving bowl, mix together all the fruits.
  • 2. blend yogurt and orange juice together and pour over the fruit, mix well
  • 3. can add coconut and marshmallows if you choose... it's good with and without it.
  • 4. * can add other fruits as well... Kiwi is a favorite of mine, as are mandarine oranges, pomagranate seeds, and dried cranberries. Best to use whatever is in season.. this is just the way I usually make it. * this salad is just as tasty without the dressing, and if you choose you can substitute sour cream for the yogurt - if you do though I'd omit the orangejuice.

  • Pour the drained fruit juice (from the canned fruit) into a liquid measuring cup. You need about 3/4 cup fruit juice. If you have more than that, pour a little off. If you don't have quite that much, add another type of fruit juice (white grape juice, orange juice, etc.) or supplement with water as long as it isn't more than a couple tablespoons that you need.
  • In a small saucepan, whisk together the fruit juice, cornstarch, and honey (or other sweetener of choice). Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, whisking constantly. Cook for 2-3 minutes until thickened.
  • Pour the mixture into a bowl to cool (you can let it cool in the pan but it will take longer). Stir every so often so it doesn't form a skin over the top while cooling. Once cooled to room temperature, stir in the yogurt until smooth. Refrigerate until cool. It will thicken a bit more while cooling.
  • In a large bowl, toss together the fresh and canned fruit. Pour the dressing over the top and stir to combine. Serve immediately.

  • Have each family member begin chopping their delegated fruit into 1/4-inch sized bits (banana, apple, grapes, cherries, strawberries–not the lemon or canned fruits). The goal is to make the bits small enough so you get a little bit of every fruit onto the spoon as it makes its way into your mouth.
  • Pour everything into a very large, preferably plastic bowl and squeeze a little lemon over it periodically as the chopping continues. Please stir following the sprinkle of lemon so it’s evenly dispersed, especially over the bananas.
  • While all those folks are a-chopping, pour the mandarin oranges and pineapple into a small colander to drain. Once drained, break-up the oranges into mashed/mushed bits and make sure the pineapple is thoroughly crushed. Again, the goal is tiny bits so we can get a bite of everything in one spoon.

  • Strawberry Pretzel Salad. While many fruit salads can be served along with the meal, the strawberry pretzel salad also makes a fabulous dessert. This recipe is always a hit, with its layers of baked, crushed pretzels, sweetened cream cheese and whipped topping, and luscious strawberries in gelatin.
  • Classic Waldorf Salad. A Waldorf salad is a genius combination of chopped apples with walnuts and celery. This classic version is finished with a sweetened mayonnaise and whipped cream dressing.
  • Pineapple Salad With Walnuts. Similar to the Waldorf, this pineapple salad is vibrant and filled with flavor. The chunks of pineapple give it a refreshing and delicious change from the typical apple and it comes together in minutes.
  • Apple Salad With Pecans and Raisins. This apple salad also has the familiarity of the Waldorf salad. It's made with red delicious apples, celery, and mayonnaise, though the Waldorf's walnuts become pecans and raisins are used instead of grapes.
  • Old-Fashioned Frozen Fruit Salad. When you're feeling really nostalgic and want the perfect complement to your ham or turkey, turn to this old-fashioned frozen fruit salad recipe.
  • Creamy Frozen Fruit Salad. This version of the old-fashioned frozen fruit salad may appeal to families with picky eaters. There's no mayonnaise or sour cream, and it's made without marshmallows.
  • Frozen Pineapple Cranberry Salad. This frozen fruit salad is made with cranberry sauce and pineapples and it's perfect for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.
  • Cranberry Gelatin Salad. You'll find this cranberry salad on many Thanksgiving dinner menus throughout the South. It's a favorite recipe because, not only is it delicious, but it also makes great use of cranberry sauce.
  • Blueberry Jello Salad. An unexpected and flavorful change of pace, surprise your family with a blueberry jello salad. It pairs canned blueberries and pineapple with blue gelatin to create a bright and attractive congealed salad.
  • Easy Ambrosia Salad With Sour Cream Dressing. It's hard to find a dish that's as cheery as an ambrosia salad, so it's perfect for festive meals. This particular recipe includes all the classic ingredients: chunks of fruit, grapes, and mini marshmallows in a sour cream dressing.
