MONTREAL STEAK WITH MARINADE
This is my favorite way to make steak. I like using thick cut New York Strip steak but any good quality steak will do. This recipe works best when marinated overnight. Tender and juicy! Estimated time does not include marinating.

MONTREAL STEAK MARINADE
This recipe is exactly what is written on the side of the McCormick's Montreal Steak Seasoning Container. I've been using it for several years and never bothered to write it down until I bought a new container and it didn't have it on it. Talk about panic. The recipe is good for I pound of steak so adjust it according to how many steaks you're making.

MONTREAL STEAK SAVORY MARINADE
This was on the McCormick Montreal Steak Seasoning container, but modified. I found the recipe coming out too salty, so I made some changes.

HOMEMADE "MONTREAL STEAK SPICE"
This is a combination of several kopycat recipes I found for "Montreal Steak Spice". I messed with them till I came up with this. Hubby has a Cottonseed Oil alergy which seems to be in many store bought spice mixes which was the driving force for this.

Steps:
- ** Note: Substitute 6 Tbls Black peppercorn, depending on what is you have handy or preference.
- # Note: chilie peppers optional to taste, if you like it hot add more and with seeds
- Lightly toast each whole spice separately in a dry cast pan until it releases the aroma or starts to brown
- Then grind each spice separately to a fairly course texture due to the different hardness's of the spices. Some are harder than others and require more time in the grinder. As always, a cheap coffee grinder works great!
- Combine the newly ground spices and the "Just Add" spices in bowl till cool then put in a jar for storage.
- Rub on steak half an hour before cooking. The longer it marinades the better. I have added sage and used this on chicken and pork as well.
- This makes a large mason jar full (1 quart) I make enough to share lol.

HOMEMADE MONTREAL STEAK SEASONING
A copycat Montreal steak seasoning blend that is MUCH less expensive and tastes like the real thing! Makes a great steak even better and the same for burgers, chops, vegetables like potatoes &broccoli!! If you're grilling, use a grill basket to keep the spices from falling through the grates.
