Oct 5, 2012 I started to do some fall work and after every 20 minutes is was hard to keep the twactor going straight. I kept on slugging along until it was really bad then headed back to the shop. I parked the twactor and climbed out, all of a sudden the twactor step was faulty, fell flat on me face. Gots to bee sumtin wrong with Im guessin :roll:

Dec 15, 2013 There is a shaft and coupler that drives the hydraulic charge pump and the pto that can give problems (tear the spines off) if the pto gets a lot of use (grinder tractor). A&I has a replacement shaft with hardened splines that seems to solve the problem.

Mar 18, 2015 They are a pretty decent tractor. Most common issue is hydraulic problems. Be sure the hydraulics work properly especially when hot. Most common symptom is having to rev the engine from idle to get any oil flow.

Dec 4, 2012 I tried one of those doctor type stethoscopes to see if I could pinpoint anything but could not find any difference in sound from any of the pistons, valves or turbo. Someone suggested a faulty injector or bad valve. Anyone have an idea what might be wrong or how to check out the problem?

Oct 19, 2007 You should be able to see by moving the lever, wether or not the console linkage is the problem or if it is in the transmission. Or as a last resort you could disconnect the rods that go to the transmission and then see if the shifter works properly.

Feb 2, 2012 I've had the shifters hang up when shifting out of a gear and sliding over to catch the next one. Frequently it is when coming from R or 2, and almost always because I'm trying to shift in a hurry. The shifter will move across without being completely out of gear.

Apr 9, 2025 My son bought a 1975 1105 at an auction and is needing some advice. It has the 4 speed with high-low range. The tractor will almost shift into 3rd gear but acts like the throw is too short, and the gears just grind. He has tried adjusting the linkage but that didn't solve the problem.

Oct 29, 2008 Have you double checked the shift linkage? Since it was jumping out of low range, maybe the linkage is broken, and its stuck between high and low range. It seems a bit hard to believe the input shaft would break while brush-hogging!

May 21, 2022 In my opinion the 1100, 1130, 1150 and the later 1105, 1135, 1155 were good tractors in their day. I spent a couple years at a MF dealer in mid 70's. The biggest issues I remember I listed in earlier post. The draft control drawbar on early 1100 & 1130 was fun to use on discs & field cultivators, if kept in working order.

Oct 1, 2014 From what I can find, they're very well built but seem to have the occasional hyd and pto problem. Anything in particular cause these problems? Are they a syncronized tranny? Wouldn't be using it much, mainly want it to replace a worn AC 200. We have a 1100 and a 1135. GOOD workhorses... small by todays standards but run cheap and easy to work on.

Jun 18, 2010 Try manually shifting the offending linkage back to it's "neutral" position, then try shifting again. Long term, the "fix" is to eliminate the wear in the clevis' & links. Had this happen with an 1105 many times. Remove the cover off of the shift linkages on the dash and take off the left side access to get into the relays.

Dec 30, 2021 The park shift cover is on the diff case side behind the LEFT fuel tank, as the linkage is on the clutch pedal side of tractor. That's an area that can be rusty too, keeping park from working when that bell crank sticks.
