Silky chocolate frozen yogurt with a kick of heat. The cinnamon and cayenne accent the flavor of the chocolate, but don't be surprised if this tastes a lot like chocolate cheesecake.

½ cup sifted cocoa powder
¼ cup half-and-half
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 pinch salt

Steps:

  • Combine yogurt, sugar, cocoa powder, half-and-half, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, and salt together in a bowl until smooth. Refrigerate yogurt mixture until completely chilled, at least 2 hours.
  • Transfer yogurt mixture to your ice cream maker and process for 1/2 the amount of time recommended in manufacturers' instructions for ice cream until firm and creamy, 1 to 2 hours.

2 teaspoons cornstarch
12 ounces evaporated low-fat milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup plain yogurt
2 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • In medium saucepan, combine the sugar and cornstarch.
  • Stir in milk.
  • Cook and stir over moderate heat until thickened and bubbly.
  • Remove from heat; let the mixture cool in refrigerator.
  • Add vanilla and yogurt.
  • Refrigerate until the mixture is chilled.
  • Melt the chocolate over a double boiler on low heat.
  • While the chocolate is still hot, pour it very slowly into the chilled yogurt mixture while stirring very gently.
  • Freeze in a ice-cream maker according to manufacturer's directions.

  • In a small saucepan, bring the chocolate, agave nectar, milk, and salt to a simmer over medium heat. Remove the pan from the heat and whisk until smooth. Whisk 1/2 cup of the yogurt into the warm chocolate mixture. Then add the remaining yogurt and whisk until the mixture is smooth.
  • Freeze the yogurt mixture in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's directions. Serve immediately, or transfer to a tightly sealed container and freeze up to 2 days.
