1 lb snow crab legs
paper towels
plastic wrap

Steps:

  • Wrap frozen crab legs in a couple paper towels." if not frozen,dampen paper towels".
  • After crab legs are wrapped with paper towels, wrap with plastic wrap.
  • Microwave for 4 minutes on high.
  • Ummm enjoy!

I know this is easy and you can have this done at the store but it's so much better hot off the stove at home!!

2 lbs snow crab legs (more or less is ok, however many you can eat)
2 -3 lemons, halved
Old Bay Seasoning
pepper
garlic salt

Steps:

  • You will also need: Big pot with water.
  • Season the water with a couple dashes of garlic salt, some fresh ground pepper to taste, and about 1/2-1 cup of old bay.
  • Remember these are outside shells and you're trying to penetrate flavor to the inside, although if you buy the good legs they should be slit (at least the claws) for easy access.
  • Then squeeze all the lemons into the water and throw them into the pot, too.
  • Then put the legs into the water.
  • The water should boil, watch it to make sure it doesn't boil over and make a big mess!
  • It should take at least 15 minutes to come to a boil, let boil for 4-5 more minutes so they can get a nice flavor in them.
  • Dump in sink in colander, and let cool for a couple minutes.
  • If you think it might be too spicy for ya then rinse it off a little bit.
  • Meanwhile heat you up some butter, maybe 1/2 stick in microwave, in a couple small bowls and squeeze some lemon in it.
  • Perfect for dipping the crab in!
  • But only if ya like lemon--if not just heat up the butter to dip the crab into.
  • Enjoy!

80 -100 live jumbo male blue crabs
1 -2 gallon cider vinegar
1 -2 can Old Bay Seasoning (Use nothing else!!)
1 box morton's coarse kosher salt (large box)

Steps:

  • Also need 1 Large Pot with a raised rack at least 2-4 inches.
  • Over high heat in a large crab pot with a raised rack bring equal ammounts of Cider Vinegar and water or beer to a boil.
  • (The total ammount should be just below the raised rack about 2-3 cups of each Vinegar and water or Beer.) Mix equal ammounts of"Old Bay" seasoning and"Kosher" Salt (About 2 cups of each to start) Add 4-6 LIVE JUMBO male crabs for each layer and add the combined "seasoning" on top of the crabs.
  • Continue with Crabs and a layer of seasoning until at least 12- 14 crabs are in the pot, cover and steam 25- 30 minutes.
  • with the lid on!
  • (Chop off anyones hand that tries to lift the lid too soon!) When done use tongs to lift out steamed crabs to a table covered with newspapers or brown paper.
  • Repeat until all Crabs are Steamed, changing the vinegar and water and adding new "seasoning" to each new batch.
  • Serve at once with extra "seasoning" and "crab mallets" to break open claws.
  • Or store in brown paper bags in the fridge until needed 4-5 days (NO LONGER!!!).

If you are a north easterner and live in the south, then you know the frustration with boiled seafood vs. steamed. Well this recipe gets you back to Richmond, Baltimore, Philly, NY or Boston... Use 20 qt Stock Pot... Using cheap beer actually adds to the taste of the crab. The bitterness of the beer will counterbalance the sweetness of the crab and will be lit up with the spices in the Old Bay. So don't use expensive beer, your run of the mill standard domestic will do.. Enjoy!!!

4 lbs snow crab legs
4 cups Old Bay Seasoning
32 ounces beer (appx 4 cans)
4 ears corn

Steps:

  • Using a large Stock Pot (20 qts minimum), place a steamer grate/strainer in the bottom of the pot.
  • Pour beer to cover at least the bottom of the grate/strainer.
  • Bring the beer to a boil and place Crab Legs with tips up around the pot.
  • Sprinkle the Old Bay Seasoning on and around the Crab Legs.
  • Place the corn in the middle of the legs.
  • Steam for 10 to 15 mins (until legs turn red), the corn may need an additional 10 minutes.
  • Serve with or without butter.
