MARGARITA SLUSH

Margarita Slush image

It only takes 4 ingredients (plus an empty ice cream pail) to make this easy Margarita Slush, and it's great for backyard barbecues, pool parties, and summer nights.

Provided by Meggan Hill

Categories     Drinks

Time 8h5m

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 (6 ounce) cans frozen limeade concentrate (thawed)
2 cups tequila ((see note 1))
1 cup triple sec (or orange liqueur (see note 2))
1 (2-liter) bottle lemon-lime soda (plus more, for serving)
Lime wedges (for serving)

Steps:

  • In an empty one-gallon ice cream pail, combine limeade concentrate, tequila, triple sec, and 2 liter bottle of soda. Place in the freezer and chill at least 8 hours, overnight, or up to a month in advance.
  • Remove from freezer 1-2 hours before serving. As the slush melts, it will become easier to scrape and serve.
  • To serve, add 1 cup slush to a glass (rim the glass with coarse salt if desired, see note 3). Top with additional soda and garnish with a lime slice or wedge.

FROZEN MARGARITA SLUSH

Frozen Margarita Slush image

I made this up after seeing an episode of Rachael Ray's 30 Minute Meals where she made something similar. I've used Ben & Jerry's Strawberry Kiwi Swirl sorbet in place of the lime sorbet so feel free to substitute your favorite fruity flavor! Goes down fast and smooth so be careful!

Time 5m

Yield 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1/2 cup lemon sorbet
1 cup lime sorbet
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
2 tablespoons tequila
2 teaspoons triple sec (or other orange liqueur)

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a blender and process or mix by hand in a small bowl (easier for a single serving).
  • Serve immediately.
  • *Note: If sorbet is too hard straight out of the freezer to mix by hand, microwaving it for 8-10 seconds softens it enough to mix easily. No need to soften if using a blender to mix.
