8 cups all-purpose flour
2 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 cups brown sugar, packed
4 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
3 cups vegetable shortening

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine all ingredients except shortening. Blend well.
  • Cut in shortening with a pastry blender or a heavy-duty mixer until mixture resembles cornmeal in texture.
  • Place mix into large ziplock bag. Label with date and contents.
  • Store in a cool, dry location. Use within 10-12 weeks.

  • In a large bowl, combine all the ingredients.

  • For Sugar Cookies use: Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • In a large bowl, combine all ingredients.
  • With lightly floured hands, shape the dough into 1" balls; arrange them about 2" apart on 2 lightly greased 13" X 9" baking sheets Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden.
  • Let cool for 1-2 minutes on the baking sheets; using a spatula, transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

Steps:

  • Arrange the racks in the upper and lower third of the oven and preheat to 350 degrees F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Stir together the brownie mix, butter and egg in a large bowl until smooth and combined, then fold in the chocolate chunks.
