LOW SUGAR & LOW SODIUM SYRUP

I got tips from a regular maple sugar syrup and played with the ingredients a little to make it to my liking. It draws to be a bit watery at first when hot (that's normal), after usage be sure to refrigerate in a tightly closed container.

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 1/4 cups Splenda granular
5 teaspoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon maple extract
1 1/2 cups hot water

Steps:

  • Bring 1 1/2 cups of water to a partial boil (small boil) then turn off.
  • Combine all remaining ingredients until all dissolved.

I was looking around for a low sugar recipe and just couldn't find one so I made this one up. I like this on pancakes with ice cream or whipped cream, enjoy! :D

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 cup frozen strawberries (sliced )
1 tablespoon white sugar
1/4 cup lemon juice or 1/4 cup orange juice
1/2 teaspoon easy blend flour (opional)

Steps:

  • combine sugar, juice and strawberries in a small sauce pan.
  • bring to a boil over medium heat.
  • stir occasionally.
  • once mixture begins to boil, reduce heat to simmer.
  • simmer for ten minutes, I also like to break the strawberries into smaller chunks while simmering.
  • if mixture is not thick enough after 10 mins, add flour.
  • simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  • allow sauce to cool for 5 mins and then use it -- I like it warm.
