This is from the August 2004 issue of Martha Stewart Living. These taste like a traditional bloody mary, but add a frosty chill that is great for hot summer days. You can adjust the seasonings to suit your tastes.

Steps:
- Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth.
- If you don't have small ice cubes, place some large cubes in a baggie and crush with a rolling pin or hammer.
- The smaller ice cubes do blend better.

Steps:
- Place the ice in a large jug. Measure the vodka, tomato juice and lemon juice and pour it straight onto the ice.
- Add 3 shakes of Worcestershire sauce and Tabasco (or more if you like it very spicy) and a pinch of celery salt and pepper. Stir until the outside of the jug feels cold, then strain the cocktail into 2 tall glasses.
- Top up with fresh ice, add a celery stick and lemon slice to both glasses and enjoy.

LOVAGE YOUR BLOODY MARY
I love Bloody Marys but the juices are so high in sodium. I've made this with fresh tomatoes (you don't have to) and using lovage lowers blood pressure and makes a great salt substitute. Worcestershire sauce is good in these but high sodium so go to taste. Lovage has celery flavors. For Ray I added Shrimp Vegetarians omit it!

LOVAGE BLOODY MARY COCKTAIL
A bold and bright traditional Bloody Mary cocktail, with the addition of fresh lovage leaves and a hollow lovage stalk 'straw' for sipping! BEEFED-UP BLOODY MARY SOUP
The classic brunch cocktail warmed up, and beefed up with some broth and diced tomatoes into a hearty soup that's amazing with some scrambled eggs and toast. I suggest using your favorite Mary garnishes, like celery sticks, olives, and pickled okra as part of a little platter on the side. A shot of vodka in the soup is optional, but not bad. - In a 2 qt saucepan, combine soup, broth, horseradish. Bring to barely a simmer, and allow to cook for 10-15 minutes to mellow the horseradish.
- Add Worcestershire, hot sauce and tomatoes and heat through.
- Squeeze lemon juice into soup to taste. I use the whole lemon, but start with half if you're not as big a lemon freak.
- Serve, garnishing each bowl with some fresh cracked pepper and a sprinkle of celery salt.
