LEMON BASIL SPRITZER

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 c. champagne
1/2 c. lemonade
2 Tbsp. basil simple syrup (or more to taste)
ice
For the Basil Simple Syrup:
1 c. water
1 c. sugar
1 c. loosely packed fresh basil leaves

Steps:

  • Fill glass 1/3 full with iced (crushed is best!)
  • Add 1 c. champagne, 1/2 c. lemonade, and 2 Tbsp. basil simple syrup and mix.
  • Add additional basil syrup, if desired.
  • For the Simple Syrup:
  • Bring water and sugar to a boil in a small saucepan.
  • Stir in fresh basil leaves; remove from heat, and cool.
  • Store in airtight container in refrigerator.

½ cup water
½ cup Simple Truth™ Organic Granulated Sugar
½ cup Simple Truth™ Basil leaves, plus more for garnish
3 Simple Truth™ Lemons, juiced, plus 1, cut crosswise into thin wheels, seeds removed, divided
1 bottle Simple Truth™ Italia Prosecco

Steps:

  • Make the lemon basil spritzer: In a small pot, combine the water, sugar, and Simple Truth™ Basil. Bring to a boil over high heat, whisking until the sugar dissolves. Simmer for 1 minute, whisking frequently. Remove the pot from the heat and let the syrup steep for 30 minutes. Strain into a heatproof container, discarding the basil leaves, and let cool completely.
  • When ready to serve, add 1 tablespoon basil syrup and 1 tablespoon lemon juice to each of 6 glasses and top with 4 ounces Simple Truth™ Italia Prosecco. Garnish with fresh basil leaves and a lemon wheel.
  • Enjoy!
