Number Of Ingredients 6

36 regular JET-PUFFED Marshmallows
3 oz. BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, melted
24 pretzel sticks
24 JET-PUFFED Miniature Marshmallows

PEPPERMINT MARSHMALLOW SNOWMEN

Peppermint Marshmallow Snowmen image

These cheerful snowmen have a secret -- they're flavored with peppermint extract for an extra dose of holiday cheer.

Time 9h15m

Yield 1 dozen

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 cup confectioners' sugar, plus more for dusting the pan and dipping the cutters
3 packets unflavored powdered gelatin (about 3 tablespoons)
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
1/8 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
1/3 cup cornstarch
12 black licorice gumdrops
6 gummy straw candies, such as Sour Straws
6 pretzel sticks, broken in half
12 small orange candies, such as Tic Tacs
1/2 cup chopped semisweet chocolate or semisweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Dust an 11-by-15-inch baking dish liberally with confectioners' sugar. Pour 1/2 cup cool water into the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the whisk attachment and sprinkle the gelatin over.
  • Meanwhile, combine the granulated sugar, corn syrup, salt and 1/2 cup water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium high heat and cook, swirling the pan occasionally without stirring, until the mixture reaches 240 degrees F on a candy thermometer, 6 to 7 minutes.
  • With the mixer on low speed, slowly pour the sugar syrup into the gelatin mixture. Once all of the syrup has been added, increase the speed to high and whisk until the mixture is bright white and forms very stiff peaks and the bowl has cooled and is just warm to the touch at the bottom, 8 to 10 minutes. Add the peppermint extract and mix to combine. Spread the mixture into the prepared pan, smooth the top and dust liberally with confectioners' sugar. Let sit overnight before cutting.
  • When ready to assemble, combine 1 cup confectioners' sugar and the cornstarch in a small sieve. Liberally dust a work surface with some of the mixture and unmold the marshmallow slab in one piece (you will need to guide it from the pan with an offset spatula and your fingers). Dust both sides of the slab well with the sugar-cornstarch mixture. Using 1-inch, 1 1/4-inch and 1 1/2-inch round cutters dipped in confectioners' sugar, cut 12 marshmallows of each size. Dust the marshmallows all over with the remaining sugar-cornstarch mixture.
  • Build the snowmen on the lollipop sticks, starting with the largest diameter marshmallows. Stick a licorice candy on top of each for a hat. With scissors, cut the gummy straws in half lengthwise. Flatten the pieces with a rolling pin to make flat scarves for the snowmen and tie them on. Stick the pretzel pieces into the middle marshmallows for "arms Use the orange candies to make noses.
  • Melt the semisweet chocolate in a small bowl in the microwave at 50 percent power in 15 second intervals, stirring after each, 45 seconds to 1 minute. Stir until completely smooth and transfer to a piping bag with a small plain tip. Pipe chocolate eyes, a mouth and buttons onto each snowman.

  • Frozen Snowman Banana Pops. We wouldn't recommend snacking on these frozen banana pops right after building a real snowman, but once you're warm and toasty inside, they make a great winter treat.
  • Skillet Snowman Cheese Dip. This snowman may have melted into a puddle of white cheese, but it's still cute and delish. Once you've mixed the dip together, use black olives and a baby carrot to make a face on this snowman-themed food.
  • Traditional Snowmen Sugar Cookies. The simplicity of these snowman cookies makes them a classic. Use snowman cookie cutters to create an army of them and frost with royal icing.
  • Chocolaty Melting Snowmen. Thanks to marshmallows and vanilla candy coating, these snowmen are melting all over rich chocolate cookies. To make the puddle of melted snow look more like a former snowman, use peanut butter cups to make a hat and a couple sprinkles for a snowman face.
  • Marshmallow Snowmen. You won't need a winter jacket to build a line of these snowmen. Instead, stack marshmallows into snowmen and use melted chocolate, pretzel sticks, and orange candies to create faces, arms, and buttons.
  • Christmas Cake Pops. This snowman cake pop recipe may be accompanied by Rudolph and Santa, but it isn't just for the holiday season. Use your favorite cake and frosting, then dip each ball in melted white baking chocolate.
  • Stacked Square Snowmen Cookies. One of the best things about making snowmen out of sugar cookies instead of snow? You can get even more creative and make them any shape you want.
  • Melting Snowman Cocktail. Make sure you keep this cocktail recipe on hand for your next winter party! Vodka, Kahlua, and half-and-half make this cocktail a tasty winter treat.
  • Kaleidoscope Snowmen Sugar Cookies. If there's nothing you love more than a day of decorating, these snowmen sugar cookies will keep you happy for hours.
  • Meringue Snowmen. You don't need actual snow to make stacked snowmen. Once you whip together a quick meringue, you can pipe balls on top of each other to create realistic snowmen.
