JESUS BREAD
I got this recipe 30 years ago from my friend Carol Cory. I have used it ever since. It's a one rise bread and can be made right before diner. I use it for sandwiches and toast it in the toaster oven. You can also make rolls and pizza dough from it.

Steps:
- 1. Mix 1/4 cup warm water and yeast in bowl.Better to use a wooden spoon.Blend in honey.
- 2. Add salt and 1 1/4 cups of warm water.
- 3. Add flour a cup at a time till soft ball forms and its not wet.
- 4. Knead till it gets hard to knead.About one minute.
- 5. Grease bread pan.Form dough into a loaf and put in bread pan. Let rise one hour. Till double in size. I usually put it in the oven to rise and then turn on the oven and bake.
- 6. Bake at 350 degrees for about 25 minutes. Check to see if its golden brown and when you tough the top it sounds hollow.

10 LESSONS WE CAN LEARN FROM THE MEALS JESUS SHARED
From ibelieve.com
Estimated Reading Time 8 mins
- Dining with the enemy — Luke 5:27-32. In Jesus’ time, tax collectors were pretty much hated by the people. These were Jews who were taking advantage by collecting Rome’s taxes plus a surcharge to line their own pockets (Luke 19:8).
- The uninvited guest — Luke 7:36-50. Have you ever hosted a dinner party only to have someone unexpected (and possibly unwanted) show up? Jesus went to Simon the Pharisee’s house for a prestigious dinner, where topics of the day were to be discussed.
- Feeding the hungry — Luke 9:10-17. In Luke’s account, Jesus fed 5,000 people (not including women and children) who had come to hear him speak. He didn’t have to feed them.
- Smell the roses — Luke 10:38-42. Just like us, Jesus had friends. Siblings Lazarus, Mary and Martha were dear to him and no doubt he enjoyed getting together with them.
- Wash what matters — Luke 11:37-53. Life is messy. In Jesus’ time the roads were dusty and traveling guaranteed a certain measure of dirt on your person.
- Consider your conversation — Luke 14:1-24. When Jesus accepted a dinner invitation to the home of a Pharisee, he came prepared to speak on the hot topics of the day: working on the Sabbath, places of honor (at the table) and who gets to sit at God’s banquet table.
- Invite yourself over — Luke 19:1-10. Zacchaeus was curious about Jesus but only expected to observe him from afar. The “wee little man” of Sunday school fame couldn’t see over the crowd, so he climbed a tree to catch a glimpse.
- Put your guests first — Luke 22:14-38. Jesus’ last supper — the Passover meal — with his disciples is filled with meaning. The scene that is set reveals that Jesus is the lamb of God, that in Christ there is a new covenant, and that we are to remember his sacrifice through communion (Luke 22:14-38).
- Disciple over dinner — Luke 24:28-32. After his resurrection, Jesus appeared to two of his followers on the road to Emmaus. With his identity cloaked by God, he talked with them about all that had happened and explained the significance through the Scriptures: “Then Jesus took them through the writings of Moses and all the prophets, explaining from all the Scriptures the things concerning himself” (Luke 24:27, NLT).
- Serve comfort food — Luke 24:36-43. When the two from Emmaus went back to tell the disciples, suddenly Jesus appeared. They were very afraid — they thought they’d seen a ghost!

- St. Peter’s Fish. Today, fishing in the Sea of Galilee for is actually banned periodically. The last was a 2-year ban between 2011 and 2013. This was because the levels of fish had fallen dangerously low.
- Bread. These days bread gets a bad rep. However the versions and circumstances 2,000 years ago made it a healthy part of a daily diet, particularly for those working what we would call blue collar jobs.
- Almonds. Almonds or almond trees are mentioned several times in the Old Testament; Genesis 30:37, Genesis 43:11, Exodus 25:33-34, Exodus 37:19-20, Numbers 17:2-8, Ecclesiastes 12:5, Jeremiah 1:11.
- Pistachios. In Genesis 43:11, both pistachios and almonds are mentioned. Granted, that is the Old Testament and far before Jesus was born to this world, but given the fact that pistachios are native to the Middle East, there’s a very good chance Jesus ate them.
- Walnuts. There is little doubt that it was this nut tree mentioned in Song of Songs 6:11. We call them English Walnuts in the United States and Europe, yet their origin is not England!
- Garlic. Do you only associate this spice with Italian food? They may have been late to the game. Consider this verse in the Bible of it being a favorite food thousands of years ago
- Mustard. There’s this well-known parable told by Jesus: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”
- Cumin. This is another spice in the Bible, as it’s specifically mentioned by name in the Old Testament (Isaiah 28:25-27) and the New Testament (Mathew 23:23).
- Cucumbers. Agriculture today in Israel is truly a miracle. In less than a half-century, the Hula Valley went from being a malaria-infested swampland that the neighboring countries didn’t even want, to becoming the most prosperous region in the Middle East for agricultural output.
- Frankincense and myrrh. You can’t help but associate these with Christmas! Gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh were brought by the magi (wise men) to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
