Time 28m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1.5 lbs. boneless pork chops (4 chops)
2 large Fuji apples (sliced thin)
6 T butter
1 C brown sugar
1/4 C cornstarch
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 12 oz. bottle Dry Sparkling fuji apple soda (or another apple soda if you can't find this one)

Steps:

  • Place 2 tablespoons of butter in the bottom of your instant pot and push sauté. Let the butter melt then place the pork chops in the instant pot in a single layer (as shown in photo 1).
  • Sear the pork chops for 2 minutes, until lightly browned on one side then flip them over and do the same on the other side. Remove the chops and place on a plate.
  • Completely deglaze the pan by pouring 1/4 the bottle of apple soda into the pot and scraping off all the bits of pork from the bottom.
  • Meanwhile, combine remaining 4 T melted butter, corn starch, brown sugar and cinnamon together in a bowl (as shown in photo 2).
  • Turn the Instant Pot off and place the pork chops back in the pot and top with sliced apples and brown sugar mixture.
  • Pour the dry sparkling soda over everything and seal the lid. Cook on pressure cook or manual for 8 minutes. It will take about 10 minutes for it to come up to pressure.
  • Once it has finished cooking, let it naturally release pressure for 10 minutes then quick release the remainder and open the lid. Serve pork chops smothered with apples and sauce over top.

INSTANT POT APPLE BUTTER PORK CHOPS

Instant Pot Apple Butter Pork Chops image

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 to 2.5 lbs boneless pork chops
salt & pepper to taste
2 Tbsp oil for sauteing (or more as needed)
1 onion chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
3/4 cup chicken broth
28 oz apple butter
1 cup apple sauce

Steps:

  • Salt and pepper pork chops. Turn your instant pot to on and to saute on high. Once the pot is HOT, add a couple of tablespoons of oil and brown on both sides in batches of 3 so that you don't overcrowd your pot. Add more oil to the pot as needed. Set browned chops aside in a plate. Once you have browned all of your chops, add the onions to the instant pot and saute for a couple of minutes. Add the garlic next and saute for 1 minute more, stirring constantly. Add pork chops back to the pot along with any juices that have accumulated underneath. Pour chicken broth around the chops then top chops with apple sauce and apple butter.
  • Put the lid on the instant pot and close the valve. Turn pot to manual and set it for 20 minutes. Once it gets done, let it natural release for 20 minutes. (We loved ours with a little garlic salt right before serving. SO GOOD!)
  • The leftover pork makes amazing BBQ sandwiches or BBQ topped baked potatoes. So before I put up the leftovers, I shred them up and added a tablespoon apple cider vinegar and about 1/4 cup of barbecue sauce and then use it to make bbq sandwiches or bbq topped potatoes for lunch the next day! YUM!

PORK CHOPS & APPLE BUTTER

Pork Chops & Apple Butter image

The Apple butter, will tenderize pork because of the acid in the apples. I like Apple butter becaues of the spices in it, but for those how do not like spicey use regular apple sauce yes, you can use sugar free apple sauce. This is a one pan easy clean up dish, and one the kids love to. I have also used a crock pot on low for all day cooking for 1/2 a day.

  • Heat the Instant Pot on "saute" mode. While the Instant Pot heats up. Season the Smithfield All Natural Bone-In Pork Chops with salt and black pepper on both sides. Place butter in Instant Pot then working in batches, begin to brown 2 pork chops at a time. About 2-minutes on each side. Remove and set on a plate, then repeat until all the pork chops are done browning.
  • While the pork chops brown, peel and slice the apples. Place in a bowl of water to prevent browning until ready to use.
  • Once the pork chops are done cooking, deglaze the Instant Pot with one cup of water until all the brown bits have been pulled up. (this will prevent the burn error from appearing during cooking). Then, drain the apples and add to the Instant Pot. Sprinkle the apple pie seasoning and brown sugar on top. Mix well, then place the pork chops on top of the apples, layering the pork chops one-by-one. Add the bundle of fresh thyme on top.
  • Secure the lid to the Instant Pot, making sure the pressure valve is set to "sealing". Turn off the Instant Pot then turn back on and set to "meat" for 4 minutes. While the pork chops cook, make a cornstarch slurry with the two tablespoons water to one tablespoon cornstarch. Mix and set to the side.
