IMPOSSIBLY EASY FRENCH APPLE PIE

Impossibly Easy French Apple Pie image

I think this is like a cross between a cobbler and a cake, rather than like a pie. I baked mine in a small glass baking dish instead of a pie plate, since it is a lot easier for me to cut squares than pie wedges! (Also I have a cover for my square dish.) For the baking mix, I used half Reduced Fat Bisquick and half Hodgson Mills Whole Wheat Buttermilk baking mix. I also used a bit less sugar in the pie part of the recipe since I thought the streusel topping and apples gave it plenty of sweetness. From Bisquick.

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F and grease a 9 or 10-inch pie dish with non-stick spray and set aside.
  • Begin by peeling, coring, and slicing the apples and placing them in a medium bowl. Add the cinnamon and apple pie spice and mix until apples are evenly coated with spices.
  • In the medium bowl, the apples were in, whisk together a 1/2 cup of Bisquick mix, eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, butter, and salt. The mixture will appear slightly lumpy because the butter is softened and not melted and therefore will leave lumps, this is okay! Pour the wet mixture over the apples.
