- Slice ribs into individual pieces.
- In a large bowl, combine honey, soy sauce vinegar, fresh minced garlic and brown sugar.
- Stir until honey and brown sugar are completely dissolved; stir in the baking soda (the mixture will begin to foam).
- Transfer ribs to the bowl; turn to coat.
- Cover a cookie sheet with foil, and arrange the ribs meat side up on the sheet; pour the excess sauce all over them, and sprinkle with garlic salt.
- Bake for 1 hour, turning every 20 minutes (if the sauce on the ribs starts to over brown just cover loosly with foil).

- Marinate Baby Back Ribs: Mix ¼ tsp (2g) fine salt, ¼ tsp (1.25ml) sesame oil, 1 tsp (3.2g) garlic powder, 1 tbsp (15ml) regular soy sauce, and 1 tbsp (15ml) Shaoxing wine in a large Ziploc bag or Instant Pot. Add in 1 rack of baby back ribs, then marinate for at least 30 minutes in the fridge. *Optimal Marinating Time: 1 - 2 hours
- Make Honey Garlic Sauce: While the ribs are marinating, heat up the Instant Pot using "Saute Normal" function. When the indicator says "HOT" (~8 minutes), add 2 tbsp (30ml) peanut oil or olive oil to the Instant Pot. Add in minced garlic, then saute for 45 seconds to 1 minute. Pour in 2 tbsp (30ml) regular soy sauce, a pinch of ground black pepper, ¼ cup (63ml) honey, and ½ tsp (2.5ml) dark soy sauce. Stir to reduce & thicken the sauce a bit for 2 - 3 minutes. *Pro Tip: You may need an extra tbsp of regular soy sauce depending on how salty is your soy sauce. Set aside the honey garlic sauce in a container, then let it cool.
- Pressure Cook Baby Back Ribs: Place 1 cup (250ml) of cold water and trivet in Instant Pot. Place the marinated ribs on the trivet. Close lid, then turn Venting Knob to Sealing position. Pressure Cook at High Pressure for 16 minutes (Tender with a bit of chew) to 25 minutes (Fall off the bone) + 10 minutes Natural Release. Open the lid carefully.
- Apply Sauce & Broil in Oven/Air Fryer: Set the ribs on an oven tray, then generously apply the honey garlic sauce over the ribs on all sides. *Pro Tip: It's best to broil the ribs before cutting it into serving size.*Note: You can use an oven, Instant Pot Duo Crisp's "Air Fry" function or Air Fryer Lid for this step. Option 1 - Oven: Place the Ribs on an oven tray under the "Broil" function (or the highest temperature setting) for a few minutes until the honey garlic sauce is caramelized.Option 2 - Air Fryer Lid: Place the air fryer basket with the tray on the middle rack in Instant Pot. - In a small bowl, mix together the salt, pepper, paprika, and chili powder. Season the ribs evenly with the mixture, making sure to rub it in on all sides.
- Add the honey, soy sauce, and garlic to a large slow cooker. Transfer the ribs to slow cooker and turn them over in the sauce until coated. Position the ribs so they are standing up, with the meatier side down, and so the meat is against the walls of the slow cooker, with the bone sides facing in. BAKED HONEY GARLIC SPARERIBS
Steps:
- Gather the ingredients.
- Preheat the oven to 325 F / 165 C / Gas Mark 3 and line a large baking pan or roasting pan with foil.
- If it hasn't already been done, the silverskin (aka membrane) needs to be removed from the bone side of the racks of ribs. To do this, ease a butter knife or narrow metal spatula under the skin at one end.
- Then grasp the loosened skin with a paper towel or cloth towel (the towel will keep your hand from slipping) and pull the skin. It should peel off in one sheet. (If not, use the knife to loosen the opposite end of the membrane and try pulling again.)
- Cut the ribs into 1-rib pieces or serving size portions.
- Season the spareribs with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Arrange the ribs in the prepared baking pan.
- Cover the pan tightly with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until tender.
- Drain off all of the excess fat and liquids.
- In a small saucepan, combine the honey, vinegar, soy sauce, and garlic. Bring to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 5 minutes.

- In a small glass bowl or resealable glass jar mix all the marinade ingredients well.
- Let sit to allow the flavors to blend while you prepare the ribs in step 2
- With the back of a teaspoon begin lifting the membrane on the back of the ribs near a bone.
- When you get enough of the membrane (also called 'silverskin') pryed up from the back of the ribs grasp it with a paper towel and peel it off the ribs.
- This membrane should always be removed, if it's left on it can cause the ribs to curl when they're cooking and they'll also be a bit tougher to chew when left on.
- Cut the two rib racks in half so you've 4 pieces.
- Place the ribs meat side up (bone side down) in a glass dish.
- Evenly distribute the marinade over the top of the ribs and rub to completely cover all the pieces.
- Pierce the meat with a fork all over after you've spread on the marinade - this will help the flavor penetrate the meat.
- Cover the ribs and refrigerate overnight.
- Oil the grates of the BBQ and preheat to 400F - 450F.
- When the grill is ready place the ribs meat side down (bone side up) and close the lid.
- Let the ribs brown up and give them the charred grill marks - usually about 7 or 8 minutes should do.
- Flip the ribs over (bone side down) and close the lid.
- Reduce the temperature to 350F.
- Let the ribs cook for 30 - 40 minutes and check on them.
- The meat should be shrinking back from the bone 1/4" or so.
- Keep checking on the ribs, you don't want them overcooked or they'll dry out.
- Depending on the size of ribs you're using really determines how long to cook them. The bigger and meatier they are the longer they'll take.
- Remove the bbq pork ribs from the grill and place on a cutting board.
- Cut the ribs into individual pieces between the bones.
- Its easier if you do this bone side up so you can see where to cut.
- Serve this as is or with the bbq pork ribs dipping sauce described above.
