Number Of Ingredients 13

1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
1-1/2 cups warm water (110° to 115°)
1/2 cup warm 2% milk (110° to 115°)
3 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons butter, melted
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
4-1/2 to 5-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
TOPPING:
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
4-1/2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon garlic powder

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and milk. Add the sugar, butter, salt, baking soda and 3 cups flour. Beat until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a firm dough., Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. , Turn onto a lightly floured surface; cover and let rest for 10 minutes. Divide into 32 pieces. Shape each into a 4-1/2-in. rope., Place melted butter in a shallow bowl. Place cheese in a second shallow bowl. Dip ropes in butter, then coat with cheese. Place 3 in. apart on lightly greased baking sheets. Combine Italian seasoning and garlic powder; sprinkle over breadsticks. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes. , Bake at 375° for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to wire racks. Serve warm.

3 teaspoons active dry yeast
1 teaspoon salt
5-1/4 to 6 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup water
1 cup butter, cubed
1/2 cup 2% milk
2 large eggs, room temperature
FLAVORING :
1/2 cup butter, melted
6 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons minced fresh rosemary or 2 teaspoons dried rosemary, crushed
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, mix yeast, salt and 2 cups flour. In a small saucepan, heat water, cubed butter and milk to 120°-130°. Add to dry ingredients; beat on medium speed 2 minutes. Add eggs; beat on high 2 minutes. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough (dough will be sticky)., Turn dough onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour., Punch dough down. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; shape into 1-1/2-in. balls. Combine melted butter, garlic, rosemary and salt. Dip 10 dough balls into butter mixture. Place in a greased 10-in. fluted tube pan; sprinkle with a scant 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese. Repeat with remaining balls and Parmesan cheese. Drizzle with any remaining butter mixture. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 45 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°., Bake until golden brown, 55-70 minutes or until a thermometer inserted into bread reads 200°. Cool for 10 minutes before inverting onto a serving plate. Serve warm.

2-1/2 cups water
1/3 cup molasses
1/4 cup butter, cubed
6-1/4 to 7 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
3 teaspoons salt
2 packages (1/4 ounce each) quick-rise yeast
2 large eggs

Steps:

  • In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine cereal and water. Cover and cook on high for 4 minutes (mixture will be liquidy). Stir in molasses and butter. Let stand until mixture cools to 120°-130°, stirring occasionally., In a large bowl, combine 4 cups all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, brown sugar, salt and yeast. Add cereal mixture to dry ingredients; beat just until moistened. Add eggs; beat until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a firm dough (dough will be sticky)., Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, 6-8 minutes. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes. Divide dough in half. Shape into loaves. Place in two 9x5-in. loaf pans coated with cooking spray. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 45 minutes., Bake at 350° for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pans to wire racks to cool completely.

1-1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1-1/2 cups warm water (110° to 115°)
1/2 cup nonfat dry milk powder
2 large eggs, room temperature
1/2 cup butter, softened
4 tablespoons grated Romano cheese, divided
2 teaspoons minced fresh rosemary or 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary, crushed
2 teaspoons minced fresh thyme or 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
5-1/2 to 6 cups bread flour
1 tablespoon butter, melted

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, dissolve yeast and honey in warm water; stir in milk powder. In a large bowl, combine eggs, softened butter, 2 tablespoons cheese, rosemary, thyme, salt, yeast mixture and 2 cups flour; beat on medium speed until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough (dough will be sticky)., Turn dough onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, 6-8 minutes.
