GRILLED SESAME BOK CHOY

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 head of bok choy
2-3 Tbsp sesame oil
Preferred amount of the following:
Sea Salt
Cracked Black Pepper
Sesame Seeds
Sriracha Sauce

Steps:

  • Rinse and chop the bok choy into two large sections.
  • On a baking sheet or large plate, drizzle the bok choy with 2-3 Tbsp of sesame oil and top with sea salt and cracked black pepper.
  • When your grill is nice and hot, carefully place your bok choy on the grill and cook for approximately 5-10 minutes on each side. (The cooking time will depend on how hot your grill is.)
  • Once you see the leaves start to char and you have grill marks on the stalks, go ahead and remove from the grill.
  • Top your bok choy with a little sriracha sauce and a dash of sesame seeds.

3 medium heads bok choy
2 Tablespoons apple juice
1 Tablespoon fish sauce
1 Tablespoon coconut aminos or wheat free tamari
½ teaspoon toasted sesame oil (plus a little more for drizzle after)
½ teaspoon fresh minced ginger
1 teaspoon natural sriracha (optional)

Steps:

  • Heat your grill to low-medium
  • Slice the bok choy down the middle and wash well. Shake off the leftover water.
  • Combine the other ingredients in a small bowl and mix well.
  • Lay the bok choy in a baking dish open side up and drizzle it with the marinade.
  • Carefully place the bok choy on the grill, open side up so that the marinade doesn't spill into the grill.
  • After about five minutes, flip them over and grill for another five minutes or so being careful the outer leaves do not burn.
  • Remove from the grill and place on a platter. Drizzle with a touch of the sesame oil. Serve with your favorite meat.

⅛ teaspoon paprika
⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon seasoned salt (such as LAWRY'S®)
1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat, and lightly oil the grate.
  • In a bowl, mix butter, garlic powder, paprika, and 1/8 teaspoon of black pepper. Slice the bottom off the head of bok choy, and remove and clean the stalks. Sprinkle seasoned salt and 1 teaspoon of black pepper over both sides of the stalks.
  • Lay the bok choy stalks on the preheated grill. Brush with seasoned butter mixture, cover the grill, and cook until the bok choy stalks show grill marks and the leaves are crisp at the edges, 3 to 4 minutes. Turn the bok choy, brush with butter mixture, cover, and grill the other sides. Brush with any remaining butter mixture, and remove to a platter to serve.

1 teaspoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
1 large head bok choy
1 teaspoon sesame seeds

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, soy sauce, sesame oil, and ginger. Set aside.
  • Pull the leaves off the base of the bok choy and slice off the very bottom of the stem to remove any tough pieces. Wash the leaves individually and let them dry completely on a clean kitchen towel. Brush individual bok choy leaves with olive oil mixture.
  • Heat a grill pan over medium heat. Add bok choy leaves and grill until wilted and grill marks appear on stems and leaves, 30 to 45 seconds per side. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve warm.

1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
1 tablespoon chili paste
salt and pepper
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 scallions, chopped
2 tablespoons sesame seeds, plus more for garnish
lime wedge, for garnish

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine vinegar and chili paste and season with salt and pepper. Whisk in oil. Stir in scallions and sesame seeds. Add the bok choy and toss to coat. Chill for 15-20 minutes.
  • Prepare the grill. Lay the bok choy halves on hot grill, cut sides down. Grill 2 to 5 minutes until crisp tender. Serve with additional sesame seeds and lime wedges.
