These grilled crab legs are topped with a tasty seasoned butter and cooked perfectly on the grill. You'll never go back to steaming them again!

6 pounds king crab legs (split lengthwise)
1 cup salted butter (melted)
4 Tablespoons basil (chopped)
8 cloves garlic (minced)
2 lemons (juiced)
2 Tablespoons Sweet Rub (recipe in notes)

Steps:

  • Preheat. Preheat your grill to 225 degrees F for indirect cooking.
  • Split the legs. Split your crab legs by cutting them lengthwise using a pair of sharp kitchen shears. Remove any shell fragments. Set the legs split side up on a baking sheet.
  • Season the crab. Combine all ingredients for the seasoned garlic butter in a bowl. Spoon the butter over the exposed meat of the crab. Reserve any additional butter for serving with the finished crab.
  • Grill. Place the split crab legs on the grill grates, shell side down. Close the lid and cook for 25-30 minutes or until the crab is heated through.
  • Enjoy. Serve immediately with more of the hot, melted seasoned butter and fresh lemon wedges.

1 serving garlic butter sauce recipe

Steps:

  • Preheat your grill to medium.Split the shells of 3 pounds of crab legs and place them on a baking sheet split-side up.
  • Combine the ingredients to make garlic butter sauce in a bowl using a spoon. Use melted butter so you have a sauce.
  • Gently spoon the garlic butter over the meat of the crab legs. Reserve additional butter for serving after grilling crab legs.
  • Place the split crab legs on the grill, shell-side down. Close the lid and grill for approximately 10 minutes or until the crab is cooked through. Crab leg meat is cooked when it is reddish-orange and opaque.
  • Remove from the grill and serve with the delicious garlic butter sauce and fresh lemon wedges. Enjoy!

I ended up getting some snow crab legs on sale at the market. I wanted something a little different from plain steamed, boiled, or grilled crab legs, so I ended up throwing a few things together to make this awesome crab leg dish. Enjoy! This would be great with shrimp as well.

1 pound Snow Crab clusters, thawed if necessary
¼ cup butter
1 clove garlic, minced
1 ½ teaspoons dried parsley
⅛ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon fresh-ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Cut a slit, length-wise, into the shell of each piece of crab.
  • Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat; cook the garlic in the butter until translucent; stir in the parsley, salt, and pepper. Continue to heat mixture until bubbling. Add the crab legs; toss to coat; allow to simmer in the butter mixture until completely heated, 5 to 6 minutes.

3 pounds king crab legs (defrosted if frozen)
½ cup butter (melted but not boiling, see Notes)
¼ cup chopped fresh parsley
3 cloves garlic (minced)
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 pinch salt (to taste)
1 pinch freshly cracked black pepper (to taste)

Steps:

  • Preheat grill to medium-high heat, approximately 375° to 450° Fahrenheit. With kitchen scissors, carefully cut lengthwise through white part of leg shell to split crab legs open and reveal crab meat. Do not remove meat from shell. Set crab legs aside.
  • In small bowl, combine melted butter, chopped parsley, minced garlic, lemon juice, salt, and pepper, whisking vigorously until ingredients are fully incorporated.
  • With spoon or basting brush, drizzle approximately 50% of butter sauce over revealed crab meat inside legs. Reserve remaining butter sauce for serving.
  • Place crab legs directly on grill grate with split-shell side facing up. Close lid and grill crab legs over direct heat for 7 minutes, then check doneness. Continue grilling as needed until crab legs are reddish-orange and meat is opaque and pearly white, no more than 10 minutes total.
  • Carefully remove crab legs from grill and serve immediately with reserved garlic-butter sauce and desired sides.
