ALABAMA-STYLE WHITE BARBECUE SAUCE
This incredibly easy-to-make Alabama white barbecue sauce was invented in 1925 by Robert 'Big Bob' Gibson at Big Bob Gibson's Bar-B-Q restaurant, in Decatur. Don't let this mixture's appearance stop you from trying what is a devastatingly delicious marinade, basting sauce, and serving sauce.

GRANNY'S SPECIAL BBQ SAUCE..
I came up with this several years ago, and its a favorite with everyone who has ever tasted it... We have served it with pulled pork at church functions, and everyone wanted the recipe. The secret ingredient? Jack Daniels! Just tell everyone its a secret family recipe..lol.Its great on brisket, pulled pork, or baby back ribs (.I used low carb ketsup, and splenda's brown sugar.)

WHITE BARBECUE SAUCE
Pitmaster Bob Gibson started using this now-famous table sauce at Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Q in Decatur, AL, almost 100 years ago. Bob's kin think the mayo-based condiment was his way of keeping his three-hour barbecue chicken moist.

Steps:
- For the BBQ Sauce:
- Whisk all the ingredients together in a medium bowl. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before using. Reserve a ramekin full of sauce, about 1/2 cup, to serve on the side.
- For the chicken:
- Preheat half of the grill to medium-high heat and the other half to low heat. Using tongs, dip a folded towel into olive oil and wipe over the grill grate.
- Season the chicken pieces with salt and pepper. Arrange the chicken, skin side down, on the hottest area of the grill. Grill until seared and golden brown and crisp on each side, about 5 minutes. Move the chicken to the cooler part of the grill and brush with barbecue sauce. Continue to cook until the juices run clear, about 20 to 25 minutes. Do not forget to flip the chicken halfway through its cooking time. Transfer the chicken to a serving platter and serve with sauce on the side.

WHITE BARBECUE SAUCE
White barbecue sauce is indigenous to northern Alabama, where it adorns the chicken at Big Bob Gibson's barbecue emporiums in Decatur. It melts into beautiful lacquer over the grill or in the oven, bringing a tangy slickness to all that it touches. It's also quite good on bluefish.
