GLUHWEIN (MULLED WINE)

Gluhwein (Mulled Wine) image

This very easy recipe comes from Winemaker magazine. I liked it because I had all of the ingredients on hand, it is really fast, and because it warmed me up and helped alleviate the symptoms of the cold I had at the time. According to the recipe source, the mixture can be kept warm in a crockpot, or on a coffee warmer (covered) for several hours, and can be successfully reheated the next day. (Mine never lasted long enough for me to testify to the above statement.)

Lyme Bay mulled wine. This offering is a bit different. Instead of grapes, it’s made from a blend of damson and elderberry wine – extremely English. It smells highly-spiced, with the damsons coming through strongly, but it’s quite gentle on the palate and only 5.5% ABV, a good lower-alcohol option.
