- 1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. 2. In a large bowl, beat butter with brown sugar and vanilla at medium speed until light and fluffy. 3. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing on low speed until combined. 4. In a small bowl combine flour, baking powder, and salt; gradually add to egg mixtuer while mixing on low speed. 5. Fold in chocolate chips and nuts, if using. 6. Spread batter evenly in an ungreased 13x9 inch (3.5L) pan. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in centre comes out clean. 7. - In a saucepan, melt butter over low heat, then set aside to cool for at least five minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combined cooled butter with sugars and beat with an electric mixer for two minutes. Then add egg and yolk, one at a time, mixing after each addition. Add in vanilla and mix until combined.
- In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt. Mix well. Add half of the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, and stir by hand to combine. Add remaining dry ingredients, and stir to combine, but do not overmix. Fold in chocolate chips, stirring until just mixed in.
- Tightly cover dough and chill in refrigerator for at least one hour, and up to 24 hours.
- When ready to bake, preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Scoop and drop dough, approximately a heaping tablespoon each, onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges just start to brown. Remove from oven and allow to cool on baking sheet for two minutes, then transfer to a wire cooling rack to finish cooling.

- Preheat oven to 375°.
- Beat butter, sugar, vanilla & salt.
- Gradually add flour and continue mixing.
- Stir in 1 1/2 cups chocolate morsels.
- Press into ungreased 9 x 13 pan.
- Bake at 375° for 20-22 minutes until golden on edges.
- Cool in pan until slightly warm.
- For topping:.
- Microwave 1/2 cup of chips in a ziploc bag for 1 minute on HIGH. Watch carefully.
- Knead the bag around until the morsels are melted and smooth.
- Cut a tip in the corner of the bag and drizzle chocolate onto the bars.

Ghirardelli is not my favorite but these cookies are quite delicious and easy to make. Found the recipe on another site and when I bought the chocolate chips it was on the bag ha ha. Very easy recipe but I am still on the look out for the ultimate chocolate chip cookie. Enjoy!

- Set oven to 350 degrees F.
- Set oven rack to second-lowest position.
- Grease a 13 x 9-inch pan (for thinner bars bake in a larger pan and reduce the baking time slightly).
- In a large mixing bowl cream butter with both sugars until fluffy.
