GATORADE MARGARITA
Any student, staff or alumnus from the University of Florida will be familiar with the famous sports drink invented at the school and named after the football team's mascot: the Gator. Make this to celebrate your college days (where you might have improvised a similar drink at the "World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party") -- it's surprisingly tasty and an orange-slice garnish tips it over the top.

Steps:
- Mix the sugar and salt in a shallow dish. Wet the rims of 4 to 6 rocks glasses with water and then dip in the sugar-salt mixture to coat.
- Combine the sports drink, limeade concentrate, tequila and blue curacao in a large pitcher and stir. Fill the rocks glasses with ice, pour the margarita over and garnish each with an orange slice.
HOMEMADE GATORADE
We Googled Gatorade after realizing how much the cost of this product adds up. This is the result of much trial and error. The envelopes with non Kool-Aid drink mixes (like Wylers) are usually more like Gatorade. Kool-Aid seems to have its own distinct flavor. I often double the recipe to make a gallon jug. Fructose and citric acid might require going to a good health food store or brewing supply co. but yield a product more like the original. It is very good with the substitutions mentioned if you like the lemon flavor.

Easy way to make Gatorade at home from scratch. Use whatever unsweetened drink flavor packet you like. Kool-Aid and Wylers are the most popular brands. Dextrose is available at most any homebrew store, or you can buy it online.

HOMEMADE GATORADE
A quick, inexpensive, tasty way to stay hydrated. Use any juice, add / subtract sugar depending on your taste. Shake well prior to drinking. I reuse the cleaned gatorade bottles to easily carry this with me. I also combine different juices ( strawberry / pineapple, orange / cherry etc )

- Lemon-Lime (OG – Original Gatorade) Use the juice from 1/2 lemon and 1/2 lime.
- Cucumber Melon. Instead of using juice, let 2 slices cucumber and 3 large chunks of melon infuse in the water for an hour before adding the salt. You may not need the honey for this combo.
- Mojito. Let 3 mint leaves infuse in the water for an hour before making the mixture, and use the juice of 1 lime.
- Blueberry Pomegranate. Let a handful of blueberries infuse in the water for an hour before mixing, and use 2 tbsp. pomegranate juice.
- Fruit Punch. Use 1/4 cup brewed, cooled hibiscus tea (Tazo Passion is great), and add a tablespoon or so of fresh orange or lime juice.
- Cherry. Use 1/4 cup tart cherry juice (not concentrate!). I like Cheribundi – you may want to increase the honey on this one, depending how tart you like your cherry flavor.
