Apr 7, 2018 I have a XUV 550 that will not shift out of gear while running. It doesn’t matter if it’s going from forward to reverse or reverse to forward. I have to shut the engine off every time then it will allow me to shift to desired direction.

First check to make sure the engine is not idling too fast. If the idle speed is correct then the other fix is to replace the drive clutch. A no cost work around is to turn the Gator off when you want to shift. If you want to replace the clutch you would only need to do the front, drive clutch.

The following Friday the service tech called me and said he couldn't find anything wrong. I asked him if he had hit the shifter with the palm of his hand to get it out of reverse. He said, "well I have to push real hard".

Aug 27, 2020 I have found that lubricating the clutch on my Gator is only a temporary fix and the problem will soon return. The clutch uses buttons or pads on the spider that are designed to create a bearing surface that should not need any lubrication. Too much lubrication will create problems for the drive belt if you are not careful.

Mar 21, 2015 It sounds like your clutch is not disengaging. Most often that's a problem with the primary clutch but it can also be caused by too high a idle speed. If you haven't been fiddling with your idle speed then a primary clutch problem is a pretty good guess.

I shipped my clutch off to them on March 16th, and received notice that the repaired clutch was shipped back to me on Friday, March 20th, along with a tracking number.
