BEST GARLIC TOAST (QUICK & EASY!)

BEST Garlic Toast (Quick & Easy!) image

Here's the very best garlic toast you'll find! Ultra garlicky, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside: and it takes only 10 minutes to make.

Provided by Sonja Overhiser

Categories     Side Dish

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 7

12 small round slices of a large baguette or Italian bread (homemade or store bought)*
2 cloves garlic (2 teaspoons finely minced)
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
Garlic powder, for sprinkling
Finely chopped Italian parsley, for the garnish (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Thinly slice the bread.
  • Mince the garlic. In a small bowl, mix together the garlic with the olive oil, dried oregano, and salt. Use a brush to brush the mixture on both sides of each slice of bread and place them onto a baking sheet. Try to pick up some of the minced garlic with the brush, as it tends to sink to the bottom. (If the oil runs out, depending on your size of bread, just add a splash more to the bowl with the garlic.)
  • Add a pinch of garlic powder to the top of each toast.
  • Bake for 5 minutes until the crust is crisp but the inside is still soft. If desired, sprinkle with finely chopped Italian parsley. Enjoy immediately.

Categories     Meat

Time 50m

Yield 64 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

cooking spray (1 spray)
8 medium garlic cloves, peeled (or to taste)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
3/4 teaspoon table salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 1/2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely minced
2 lbs raw lean beef tenderloin, trimmed and tied (from butcher)
24 ounces French bread, cut into sixty four 1/3-inch-thck slices

Steps:

  • Coat a large roasting pan with cooking spray. Set pan on middle rack in oven and then preheat oven to 425ºF.
  • Combine garlic, oil, lemon juice, salt, pepper and parsley in a small bowl; mash to a fine paste using back of a wooden spoon (or you can use a mortar and pestle). Set aside about 1/3 of garlic paste for use on the meat (the other 2/3 will be for the toasts).
  • Wash beef and pat dry with paper towels. Rub about 1/3 of garlic paste on meat. Place meat in preheated roasting pan and cook about 22 minutes for medium rare or 25 minutes for medium.
  • Remove meat from oven and place on a cutting board. Loosely cover meat with aluminum foil and let stand 15 to 20 minutes (meat will continue to cook slightly). Reduce oven temperature to 350ºF.
  • Meanwhile, spread tops of bread slices with garlic paste; place in a single layer on baking sheets. Bake until slightly toasted, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Remove strings from meat and slice against the grain into 32 very thin pieces; slice each piece in half. Place a slice of meat on each garlic toast and serve. Yields 1 piece per serving.

It is not gourmet by any stretch of the imagination but is just what it's title suggests: easy, cheesy & garlicy. My family said, "yum", and I hope yours does too!

Given the option, I'd eat nothing but bread. And this recipe uses my favorite ingredient: flaked sea salt! Yum!

Provided by JelsMom

Categories     Egg Free

Time 5m

Yield 2 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 slices whole grain bread
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 -2 tablespoon light margarine
1/2 teaspoon italian seasoning
1 teaspoon fresh parmesan cheese, grated
1 garlic clove, crushed
paprika
flaked sea salt

Steps:

  • Turn on broiler.
  • Place bread in single layer on sheet of foil. (I use toasted oat bread or whole wheat).
  • In small saucer or bowl, mix olive oil, margarine, Italian seasoning, garlic, and Parmesan.
  • Brush or spoon mixture over each piece of bread.
  • Sprinkle lightly with paprika.
  • Place 4-6" under broiler.
  • ***Watch Closely*** it can quickly go from browned to burnt if you're not paying attention. Cook 2-3 minutes & remove from oven when edges begin to brown.
  • Sprinkle lightly with flaked sea salt (I use pink Australian salt, but if you don't have any, a light sprinkling of regular table salt will do).
  • Serve!
