I searched for months for a recipe that tastes the same if not better than the store-bought pita chips. After many attempts, I found what everyone seems to think are perfect pita chips! They take barely any time to prepare and go great with spinach artichoke dip! Add Italian seasoning, herbs, or Parmesan cheese for a twist!

1 package pita pockets
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon garlic salt

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Brush one side of each piece pita pocket with olive oil. Sprinkle the garlic powder, salt, and garlic salt over the pita pockets. Slice each pocket into 4 even triangles.
  • Bake in preheated oven until the triangles turn a light brown color, 15 to 20 minutes.

2 large onions (about 1 1/3 pounds total), halved through root end, thinly sliced lengthwise

1 16-ounce container sour cream
1 8-ounce container crème fraîche*
1/2 cup fromage blanc or cream cheese
3/4 teaspoon ground chipotle chile powder**

Steps:

  • Melt butter with olive oil in heavy large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onions; sprinkle lightly with sea salt and sauté until onions begin to turn golden brown, stirring frequently, about 15 minutes. Reduce heat to medium and continue to sauté until onions are deep golden brown, about 10 minutes longer. Remove from heat and cool onions to room temperature.
  • Combine onions, sour cream, crème fraîche*, fromage blanc, and chipotle chile powder in large bowl; mix until well blended. Season to taste with fine sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. 4 medium-size white pitas
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
6 cloves garlic, minced
3 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
1/4 cup grated Parmesan
Kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Cut the pitas into 6 wedges.
  • In a medium saucepan, add the butter and garlic. Set over medium heat and warm through until the butter melts and the garlic becomes fragrant, 5 to 6 minutes. Add the parsley and mix well.
  • Place the pita wedges in a large bowl and pour the garlic butter over the top. Toss well to combine and coat everything evenly. Spread the pita wedges out evenly on a sheet tray and dust with the grated Parmesan. Bake in the oven until golden and crispy, 12 to 15 minutes. Remove from the oven and taste.
