1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
3 cups flour

Steps:

  • cream butter and sugar.
  • beat in eggs, vanilla and milk.
  • add salt, bp and flour.
  • chill for at least an hour.
  • roll out and cut.
  • bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.

A good, old fashioned, mid-western cookie! We grew up eating these cookies. My grandma made them often! This recipe calls for melting the shortening and then creaming it with the sugar. I think that is the secret to making these cookies so crispy and light!

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 cup vegetable shortening
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups oatmeal (uncooked)
2 cups corn flakes (either one works nicely) or 2 cups crisp rice cereal (either one works nicely)
1 cup flaked coconut
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup chopped nuts

Steps:

  • Melt shortening, pour over sugars. Mix well.
  • Add eggs and vanilla and mix well.
  • Stir dry ingredients together and add to sugar mixture. Mix lightly.
  • Add oatmeal, cereal, coconut, chocolate chips, and nuts and mix well.
  • Drop by tablespoon on greased cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 350°F for 10 to 12 minutes.
  • I use my cookie scoop and get 4 dozen yummy cookies!

1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup peanut butter (128 g)
1 1/2 cups flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda

Steps:

  • "Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and grease some cookie sheets. In a mixing bowl, thoroughly cream the shortening, vanilla, and sugars. Add the eggs and beat well. Stir in the peanut butter. Mix together the flour, salt, and baking soda, and add to the peanut butter mixture, combining thoroughly.
  • Form into tiny balls with the palm of your hands and place on the cookie sheets. Press each cooking twice with the back of a fork to make a crisscross design. Bake about 8-10 minutes or until firm.".

3 cups sugar cookies or 3 cups vanilla wafers
2 cups icing sugar
6 tablespoons cocoa
1 cup finely chopped nuts
6 tablespoons corn syrup
1/2 cup rum
shredded coconut

Steps:

  • mix all ingredients.
  • roll into 1 inch balls.
  • roll balls into cocoanut.

  • Preheat oven to 375 and grease cookie sheets. I will tell you now, I never grease cookie sheets for chocolate chip cookies, but this recipe says to do so. I usually just use parchment or nothing
  • Beat the butter until creamy, then gradually add sugars, beating until light and smooth. Beat in the egg and the vanilla. Mix the flour, salt, and baking soda together and add it to the first mixture, blending well. Stir in nuts or oats, if using, and chocolate chips.
  • Drop by teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheets about 1-inch apart and bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. You may also use a small cookie scoop, in which case you'll probably get about 40 cookies rather than 50.
