I have had this recipe for many years. I got it from my neighbor when our children were small. They are now almost 30!

Steps:
- Cut steak into thin strips.
- In a large skillet, brown meat in oil, using high heat.
- Add onions.
- Saute until tender crisp.
- Blend soup, sherry, liquid from mushrooms and garlic salt.
- Pour over steak and onions.
- Add mushrooms.
- Reduce heat.
- Cover and simmer for 1 hour or until steak is tender.
- Serve over rice.
ELEGANT STEAK DIONNE
A fantastic no-fuss meal that you can make to serve same-day, or you can freeze it ahead to be served later. Easy preparation, but perfect for entertaining or a delicious family meal. To save even more time, I use the pre-sliced fresh mushrooms. Cooking in the crockpot makes it so simple. From the cookbook Don't Panic More Dinner's in the Freezer.

Steps:
- Cooking day:.Place the meat in a large freezer bag.
- In a separate bowl, mix together remaining ingredients and pour over meat.
- If freezing, place freezer bag into freezer, keeping as flat as possible.
- Serving day:.Thaw steak.
- Place meat and marinade into crockpot. Simmer on low for about 5-6 hours or until tender.
- Remove meat and thinly slice. Place meat on a serving platter; pour juices from crockpot over meat and serve.
- This is great served over noodles, rice, or garlic mashed potatoes. The wine dissipates while cooking but tenderizes the meat and gives it a wonderful, rich flavor.

- In a large skillet, melt the butter in the olive oil. Season the meat with salt and pepper and cook over high heat until lightly browned on the bottom, about 1 minute. Turn the medallions and cook for 45 seconds longer, then transfer to a plate and tent with foil.
- Add the shallot and garlic to the skillet and cook over moderate heat, stirring, until fragrant, about 20 seconds. Add the mushrooms, season with salt and pepper and cook until softened, about 2 minutes. Remove from the heat, add the Cognac and carefully ignite it with a long match. When the flames die down, add the mustard and cream and stir over moderate heat for 1 minute. Whisk in the veal demiglace, Worcestershire sauce, scallions and parsley and season with salt, pepper and hot sauce.
- Add the meat and any accumulated juices to the saucepan and turn to coat. Simmer until heated through, about 1 minute. Transfer the meat to plates, spoon the sauce on top and serve.
