Steps:
- Gather the ingredients.
- Add the flour to a small heatproof bowl and microwave on high power for 1 minute. Use an instant-read thermometer to make sure the internal temperature has reached at least 165 F. Let cool to room temperature.
- Combine the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a small mixing bowl. Mix for about a minute to help the sugar dissolve a bit, scraping the sides of the bowl often.
- Add the vanilla and salt and mix.
- Stir in the heat treated flour.
- Add up to 1 tablespoon of heavy cream or milk to achieve your desired texture. A small amount of cream or none at all will make a stiff dough, while adding more cream will make for a creamier texture.
- Add the chocolate chips and/or sprinkles, if using, and mix just until combined.

- In the bowl of a stand mixer or with a handheld mixer, mix the plant butter until smooth. Add the brown sugar and mix until combined. Add the coconut milk, vanilla, and salt and continue to mix. Add the flour and mix until smooth. Remove bowl from stand mixer. Add in the chocolate chips and mix by hand until combined. I like to separate into small containers and place them in the fridge for eating later.
- Note: Most edible cookie dough recipes call for heat treated flour. If you are concerned about eating raw flour there are two ways to make sure it’s safe to eat.Microwave: Place your flower in a microwave safe bowl and microwave in 30 second intervals. Stir the flour after each 30 second interval (to make sure it doesn’t burn). Check with a thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 160-165F.Oven: Preheat your oven to 300F and Spread your flour onto a parchment lined cookie sheet. Place in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes. Make sure to stir the flour often, about every 2-3 minutes to ensure it doesn’t burn. Once the temperature is at 160-65F remove from the oven and allow to fully cool before using in your recipe.
