Number Of Ingredients 6

1 head savoy cabbage (about 1 1/2 lbs) or 1 head Chinese cabbage, cored, shredded across in approx 3/4-inch slices (about 1 1/2 lbs)
2 tablespoons lite olive oil or 2 tablespoons other oil
1 tablespoon minced garlic
salt & pepper
1 1/4 tablespoons ginger, minced
1 lime, juice of

Steps:

  • Heat wok or large skillet medium high heat, wait until oil is hot.
  • Add cabbage and stir fry until cabbage just starts to wilt (do nor overcook).
  • Add garlic, salt and pepper cook 1 minute.
  • Add ginger cook 1 minute.
  • Drizzle with lime juice and serve.

GINGERED RED CABBAGE AND CARROTS

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/4 pound carrots (about 2 medium)
1/2 pound red cabbage
2 teaspoons unsalted butter
1/2 teaspoon minced peeled fresh gingerroot
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon sugar

Steps:

  • Separately cut carrots and cabbage into julienne strips. In a saucepan of boiling salted water cook carrots 2 minutes, or until just crisp-tender, and transfer with a slotted spoon to a bowl. Cook cabbage in boiling water 1 minute, or until just tender, and drain in a sieve.
  • In a skillet melt butter over moderately high heat until foam subsides and in it sauté gingerroot, stirring, 30 seconds. Add carrots, cabbage, soy sauce, and sugar and sauté, stirring, 2 minutes.

1/2 large cabbage
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 cm ginger, peeled and cut inti fine matchsticks
2 garlic cloves, chopped
1 red chile, deseeded and finely sliced
1 1/2 tablespoons dark soy sauce
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

Steps:

  • Remove out leaves of cabbage. Cut in half and take out inner core. Slice quarters into 1 cm shreds.
  • Place wok on high heat. Add oil, swirl around.
  • Add ginger, garlic and chilli quickly stirring for few seconds.
  • Add cabbage. Stir-fry briskly for 3-4 minutes.
  • Add soy suace and balsamic and stir-fry few seconds longer.
  • Serve immediately.

2 tablespoons yuzu rice vinegar, such as O brand
1/3 cup fresh lime juice (from 2 limes)
1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger (from a 2-inch piece)
1 tablespoon sugar
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
4 cups finely shredded Savoy or green cabbage
2 cups finely shredded red cabbage
2 cups finely julienned carrots (from 3 to 4 medium)
Toasted sesame seeds, for serving

Steps:

  • Whisk together vinegar, lime juice, ginger, and sugar. Whisk in oil; season with salt and pepper. Toss in a large bowl with cabbages and carrots. Top with sesame seeds.

2 tablespoons butter or 2 tablespoons margarine
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 onion, chopped
1 small red cabbage, shredded (3 lbs at most)
1 teaspoon ginger, grated
1 cup dry red wine
3 tablespoons brown sugar
salt and pepper
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar

Steps:

  • Melt butter with oil in skillet or wok at medium heat.
  • Add onion and sautee about 5 minutes.
  • Increase heat to med-high, add cabbage& ginger.
  • Cook about 10 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Reduce to medium and add wine.
  • Boil about 10 minutes or until wine has almost evaporated.
  • Reduce heat, cover and simmer 10 minutes.
  • Add sugar and seasonings and transfer to a large bowl.
  • Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  • Heat cabbage in skillet or wok until heated through, stirring frequently.
  • Mix in balsamic vinegar and serve.
