- In a small saucepan heat the milk, butter, and cocoa powder, stirring frequently, until it starts to simmer or low boil.
- Let boil for 1 minute, stirring frequently.
- Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla.
- Stir in the powdered sugar, 1 cup at a time, until desired sweetness and thickness is reached.
- Pour it over the cake. It will set up as it cools.
