How does the 2018 Farm Bill define hemp? What does it mean for FDA-regulated products? A. At the federal level, the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018, Pub.
Has FDA approved any medical products containing cannabis or cannabis-derived compounds such as CBD? A. To date, the agency has not approved a marketing application for cannabis for the treatment of any disease or condition.
Aside from Epidiolex, are there other CBD drug products that are FDA-approved? What about the products I’ve seen in stores or online? A. No. There are no other FDA-approved drug products that contain CBD.
Why hasn’t FDA approved more products containing cannabis or cannabis-derived compounds for medical uses? A. FDA is aware that unapproved cannabis or cannabis-derived products are being used for the treatment of a number of medical conditions including, for example, AIDS wasting, epilepsy, neuropathic pain, spasticity associated with multiple sclerosis, and cancer and chemotherapy-induced nausea.
