2 cups water
2 chai tea teabags
8 cloves
4 cardamom pods
4 slices ginger
1 star anise
2 cinnamon sticks
1/3 cup brown sugar
3 tablespoons espresso powder
16 ounces mascarpone cheese
1 3/4 cups heavy cream
4 tablespoons sugar
7 ounces ladyfingers
2 -3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

Steps:

  • To Make Dirty Chai: place chai tea bags, cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, star anise, brown sugar, and espresso powder into a pot of water; bring to a boil and steep.
  • To Make Cream Filling: in a bowl whisk heavy cream and until they become soft peaks.
  • Add mascarpone cheese, mix more.
  • To Build Tiramisu: Strain the dirty chai mixture.
  • Dip and soak lady fingers in the mixture.
  • Line the bottom of a serving bowl (trifle bowl is recommended) with the lady fingers.
  • Add a layer of the whipped cream/mascarpone mixture.
  • Add another layer of dirty chai-soaked lady fingers.
  • Add a 2nd layer of the whipped cream/mascarpone mixture.
  • Add a 3rd layer of dirty chai-soaked lady fingers.
  • Pipe the remaining whipped cream/mascarpone mixture on the top.
  • Sift with cocoa powder.

1/4 cup instant coffee granules
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup boiling water
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 cup whipping cream
2 (3 ounce) packages ladyfingers
1 ounce semi-sweet chocolate baking square (or chocolate of your choice)

Steps:

  • Stir together instant coffee, sugar and water. Set aside.
  • In a large mixer bowl, beat cream cheese until light and fluffy (2-3 minutes).
  • Add powdered sugar and whipping cream.
  • Continue beating until stiff peaks form (6-8 minutes).
  • By hand, gently stir in 2 tablespoons of coffee mixture.
  • Split ladyfingers in half lengthwise.
  • Place half of ladyfingers in bottom of 9-inch square pan, cutting to fit, covering the entire bottom of dish.
  • Sprinkle ladyfingers with more of the coffee mixture, reserving half.
  • Top with half of cream cheese mixture.
  • Sprinkle with half of grated chocolate.
  • Repeat layers, ending with grated chocolate.
  • Cover; refrigerate 2-4 hours.

EASY NO-EGG TIRAMISU



Easy No-Egg Tiramisu image

This great Italian classic is super easy to make, and it's sure to impress your guests. The original version is a bit more complicated and contains raw eggs. This is adapted from a Rachael Ray recipe, and it's easy and delicious! Make it in martini or wine glasses for a fancy look, decorate with chocolate shavings.

25 ladyfingers
1/2 cup coffee liqueur
1/2 cup really strong coffee
250 g mascarpone
cocoa powder
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • -Mix the mascarpone and confectioner's sugar until creamy **.
  • -in a shallow bowl, combine coffee and liqueur.
  • -have your ingredients ready to assemble.
  • -quickly dip ladyfingers (one at a time, right before using) in coffee mixture, and layer them on your pan (in my case, a wine glass). Layer soaked ladyfinger, mascarpone, a sprinkle of cocoa powder, and repeat. (soak, layer, mascarpone, chocolate, soak....).
  • -Make it about 5 or 6 layers tall, and finish with a generous sprinkle of chocolate.
  • -Chill for at least 30 minutes, preferably a couple of hours.
  • -Garnish with chocolate shavings.
  • *vanilla wafers or sliced pound cake could work.
  • ** Try adding whipped cream to the mascarpone mix for a fluffier texture.
