CHEESY BEEF CRESCENT CASSEROLE
This is one of those old-timey recipes that's been handed down and adapted from my grandma, to my mom, to me. It's a simple hamburger-type casserole dish that's easy and satisfying.

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir ground beef in the hot skillet until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes. Add green beans, onion, and bell pepper. Cook until onion is tender, about 5 minutes; drain well and return to the skillet. Pour in tomato sauce and garlic powder and mix until well combined. Set aside.
- Press the crescent roll dough into the bottom and sides of an 8-inch pie plate to form an even crust.
- Combine Monterey Jack cheese and egg in a bowl. Spread 1/2 of the cheese mixture into the bottom of the crust. Top with all of the beef mixture. Finish with remaining cheese mixture.
- Bake in the preheated oven until egg is set and cheese is melted, 20 to 25 minutes. Serve hot.

BEEF AND NOODLE CASSEROLE
When I was working on the local election board in the '50s, one of my co-workers gave me this beef noodle casserole recipe, and it has been a family favorite ever since. It's quick to make for unexpected company or easily doubled for a potluck.

- In a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat. Saute onion and pepper until tender. Stir in the beef, Worcestershire sauce, noodles and soups. , Transfer to a greased 3-qt. baking dish; top with cheese. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 45-50 minutes or until heated through.

GRANDMA'S GROUND BEEF CASSEROLE
As the title suggests, this was my Grandmother's recipe. I've tweaked the amount of cheese and sour cream depending on what I've got in the fridge and it always turns out great! My mother has suggested this was made up as a way to use up ingredients in the fridge.

Steps:
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir beef in the hot skillet until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes; drain and discard grease. Mix sugar, salt, garlic salt and tomato sauce into ground beef; simmer until flavors blend, about 20 minutes. Remove from heat, cover skillet, and cool to room temperature.
- Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook egg noodles in the boiling water, stirring occasionally until cooked through but firm to the bite, about 5 minutes. Drain and cool slightly.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch casserole dish.
- Mix sour cream, cream cheese, and onion in a bowl.
- Scoop half the noodles into the prepared casserole dish; top with half the sour cream mixture. Spoon half the ground beef mixture atop sour cream layer. Repeat layering with remaining ingredients. Top casserole with Cheddar cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven until Cheddar cheese has browned, 25 to 30 minutes.

- CRUSTY TOPPING French bread cut in1 cm slices 25g soft butter 1 clove garlic, crushed (opt) 1 Tbsp French mixed mustard chopped chives, garlic cloves or parsley Cut steak in pieces, 6 cm by 4 cm.
- Place in casserole. In a bowl mix all ingredients except crusty topping.
- Pour over beef, and cover tightly.
- Bake at 160 C for 2 hours.
- Combine butter, add garlic (opt), mustard and herbs.
- Spread on one side of each bread slice (use sufficient slices to cover the top of casserole). Arrange bread, buttered side up, on meat, pushing slices firmly down to soak up juices.
- Return uncovered casserole to oven at 200 C for about 10 minutes or until bread is crisp and golden.
CRUSTY BEEF CASSEROLE
My (obnoxiously thin) sister made either this or Barbecue-Flavored Beef Squares (Recipe #91866) constantly while in college. It's not for weight-watchers but it's mud easy and a huge man-pleaser and kid-pleaser. You can add in a vegetable or two if you want to make it a more rounded one-dish meal.

ENGLISH PASTRY CRUST FOR MEAT CASSEROLES
This is a very traditional recipe for English Pastry CRUST which is used as a top and bottom crust for a meat-filled pie/casserole. It needs to be chilled before using, so you need to make this ahead of the actual main dish you are going to make with it. Once you try it, it will fast become a favorite for those who especially LOVE to eat the pastry crust as much if not more than the filling. Just about anything you can think of is made extra special with this tasty pastry!

Steps:
- Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Mix shortening into hot water until melted. Add yolk and blend well.
- Add liquid mixture to flour mixture. Mix well.
- Place in bowl, cover with plastic wrap and chill several hours or overnight.
- When ready to use, preheat oven to 425 degs.
- Divide out 3/4 of the dough and pat firmly as a lining for a 2 qt (8-inch) casserole dish.
- Fill with whatever filling mixture you desire. (NOTE: Be sure meat is already cooked meat! You are reheating the filling, not cooking sufficiently long enough to cook raw meat!).
- Roll out (or pat out) between two sheets of wax paper, remaining dough to use as top crust.
- Lay the top crust over the casserole, carefully removing the wax paper.
- Cut 3-4 small slits for venting. Seal edges and trim. If you wish, you can brush with an egg wash, or spray with a "PAM" spray to help with browning.
- Bake casserole at 425 for 25 mins until crust is golden brown.
