- Coleslaw: Add ingredients to a large bowl and mix until well combined. Taste and add additional sugar, vinegar, salt to taste.

- Assemble: Top provolone buns with shredded pork followed by coleslaw.
THROWDOWN'S SLOPPY JOES
Steps:
- For the BBQ Sauce:
- Heat the oil over medium-high heat in a heavy-bottomed medium saucepan. Add the onions and cook until soft, 3 to 4 minutes. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add the ketchup and the water and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients and simmer until thickened, stirring occasionally, about 10 minutes.
- *Transfer the mixture to a food processor and puree until smooth, season with salt and pepper, to taste. Pour into a bowl and allow to cool at room temperature. Sauce will keep for 1 week in the refrigerator stored in a tightly sealed container.
- For the Garlic Toast:
- Combine the butter and garlic in a small saucepan and cook over low heat until the butter is melted. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. Remove from the heat and let sit 5 minutes.
- Preheat the broiler.
- Put the bread on a baking sheet and broil until both sides until lightly golden brown, about 1 minute per side. Remove from the oven and brush them with the garlic butter. Transfer to a serving platter and set aside until ready to serve.
- For the Neat Joes:
- Heat the oil over high heat in a large high-sided saute pan until the oil begins to smoke.
- Add the beef, breaking it up into small pieces using a metal spatula or wooden spoon, season with salt and pepper, to taste, and cook until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon to a plate. Drain off all but 1 tablespoon of the fat from the pan. Add the onion and celery and cook until soft, about 3 minutes. Add the poblano, bell peppers and garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add the ancho powder and cook for 30 seconds. Add the BBQ sauce, 1/4 cup of water and the ketchup, bring to a boil and cook, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened, about 5 minutes. Reduce the heat to medium-low, stir in the mustard, Worcestershire, honey, brown sugar and molasses. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove the cover, return the meat to the pan and continue cooking until slightly thickened, about 10 minutes longer. Add the vinegar, season with salt and pepper, to taste, and stir in the 1/2 cup of parsley or cilantro.
- Top slices of the garlic bread with some of the sloppy joe mixture, sprinkle with cilantro or parsley.
- *When blending hot liquids: Remove liquid from the heat and allow to cool for at least 5 minutes. Transfer liquid to a blender or food processor and fill it no more than halfway. If using a blender, release one corner of the lid. This prevents the vacuum effect that creates heat explosions. Place a towel over the top of the machine, pulse a few times then process on high speed until smooth.

MINI SLOPPY JOES WITH PULLED PORK
If you have leftover pulled pork, with no sauce on it, turn it into sloppy Joe-type sandwiches for a twist on hamburger. Mini Kaiser rolls provide a sturdy, flavorful base for the sandwiches, which can be served alone as an appetizer, or as a main dish when accompanied by your favorite sides. We like fresh corn on the cob and coleslaw.

Steps:
- Turn on the Instant Pot (IP) to saute mode on "less" setting. Add the olive oil to the IP and sear the pork shoulder on all sides, until it is starting to brown and any excess fat has rendered off. Remove the pork from the IP and set aside, leaving the drippings in the IP.
- Add the onions to the IP. Saute the onions for 5-10 minutes, until the fat has crusted to the bottom of the IP and the onions are transluscent. Deglaze the IP with apple cider vinegar - stir while scraping the bottom of the IP with a wooden spoon.
- Stir in the ketchup, tomato paste, honey, whole grain mustard, brown sugar, cumin, cayenne pepper, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder and liquid smoke. Simmer for 3-5 minutes, until the sauce has thickened slightly. Return the seared pork loin to the IP. Coat each piece generously in the sauce.
- IF COOKING UNDER PRESSURE: Place the lid on the IP in "sealing" mode. Cancel the saute mode and turn on pressure cooking mode on the "normal" setting. Set the timer for 1 hour. Allow to depressurize naturally when time is up.
- IF SLOW COOKING: Place the lid on the IP in "venting" mode. Cancel the saute mode and turn on slow cooking mode on the "normal" setting. Set the timer for 8 hours. Leave IP to cook until time is up.
- UNDER PRESSURE: 1 hour + 30 minutes | SLOW COOKER: 8 hours + 30 minutes
- When done cooking, transfer the pork to a large bowl. Turn off the warming mode on the IP and put it into saute mode on "less" mode. Continue to simmer the sauce in the IP for an additional 15-20 minutes, until it has thickened up.
- Use a hand mixer or a stand mixer with a paddle to quickly shred the pork. Use forks to shred any large bits that the mixer can't shred alone.
- Pour the thickened sauce into the bowl with the pork. Stir well to combine it all together. Allow it to cool for a few minutes prior to serving. Serve the pulled pork sloppy joes on kairser or brioche rolls with cole slaw, sweet corn and dill pickles. Enjoy!
SLOW-COOKER ITALIAN SLOPPY JOES
These tasty sloppy joes with plenty of mass appeal are perfect for a gathering. If you're taking them to an event later in the day, simplify your morning by cooking the beef mixture and stirring in other ingredients the night before. Cool the meat sauce in shallow bowls in the fridge, then cover and refrigerate them overnight. The next day, transfer the meat mixture to the slow cooker to finish cooking, and then keep it warm for the party. -Hope Wasylenki, Gahanna, OH

PORK SLOPPY JOES
Huey's version of Sloppy Joes, from the Snack Attack section of his website. As always, he has his own take on a recipe and as always he adds lots of heat! Before posting this recipe, I read several hundreds of Zaar recipes for Sloppy Joes and concluded that in 99.9% of cases they are made from ground beef. But that was just my impression so I'll happily be corrected if I've misunderstood the concept. :) Huey's recipe was sufficiently different from all those I read, so I decided to post it. Increase or decrease the heat to meet your taste preferences. Some conversions: 410g = 13oz; 440g = 14oz. And another conversion I had to make because Huey - in typical fashion - was vague in his specification of ingredients: I have converted his "1 good splash soy sauce" into "1-2 tablespoons of soy sauce". From watching his TV cooking shows, I know that by a "splash" he means a fairly liberal splash! Please use your discretion and taste preferences to guide you here! 26 January 2009 UPDATE: Thank you to the two reviewers whose reviews have enabled me to make this update. First, you may like to incorporate some of justcallmetoni's additions. I know if I were making this - minus the heat - I'd be adding onion and garlic. Secondly, appleydapply's finding that there was too much liquid suggests that you need to be cautious of how much liquid you include. As you undoubtedly know, canned tomatoes vary enormously in how much liquid they contain. Aldi's Italian tomatoes contain very little liquid compared with other brands. So I'd suggest pouring off all the liquid or most of it and, as she suggested, reducing or eliminated the amount of stock used. I've retained the original amount but stated that its addition is optional.

Steps:
- Put the tomatoes, ketchup, stock, mustard, soy, parsley, sugar, cumin and chilli powder in a heavy-bottomed pan. Stir and gently cook until the mixture is thick and fragrant.
- Add the pork, stir well and briefly cook to heat through.
- When the sauce is almost ready, heat the bread rolls in a preheated oven. Then slice them in half and top each half with lettuce, and the bottom half of each roll with a quarter of the pork mixture and a good dollop or two of the sour cream. Press down the top and serve with plenty of serviettes on the side.
PULLED CHICKEN SLOPPY JOES (SLOPPY CHICKENS)
I'm showing you how to make what I like to call Sloppy Chickens, which are a cross between a pulled pork sandwich and a classic ground beef Sloppy Joe, except this chicken version is way easier than both of those. And don't let the name fool you, we're not going to need to pull any chicken, since as you'll see, it actually pulls itself. Garnish these with more green onion if desired.
