Categories     Dinner

Time 4h10m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 pork tenderloin (1.2 to 2 pounds)
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 cup chicken broth or water
1 cup BBQ sauce (store bought or homemade)

Steps:

  • Remove the pork tenderloin from the package, and place it on a cutting board.
  • In a small bowl combine the salt, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix to combine.
  • Rub your spice mixture all over the tenderloin, and then place it in the bottom of your slow cooker.
  • Add the water or chicken stock to the bottom of the slow cooker (don't pour it over the pork, though, so that you don't wash off your spice rub).
  • Add the lid and cook on high for 4-5 hours, or until the tenderloin is easy to shred with a fork.
  • Remove the pork from the crock pot, and shred with 2 forks. Return it to the slow cooker, and mix it with any liquid that might have remained in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  • Add your BBQ sauce, and stir to combine. Adjust salt and BBQ amounts to your liking, serve warm.

DELICIOUS CROCK POT BARBECUED PULLED PORK

Delicious Crock Pot Barbecued Pulled Pork image

I have made this a number of times over the years, a long marinating time and slow cooking is the secret here! this is an easy recipe with wonderful results! --- you must plan ahead the roast needs to marinate for 24 hours or even up to 3 days --- if you are a garlic lover cut slits in the roast and stuff with whole garlic cloves if desired, If you have plastic gloves then use them to rub the spices into the meat if not be careful the cayenne is very hot --- you will love this!

Time P1DT8h

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 12

1 (4 lb) pork shoulder or 1 (4 lb) pork butt
2 tablespoons minced fresh garlic (or mix in 3 teaspoons garlic powder to spice mix in place of fresh garlic or use both!)
3 teaspoons seasoning salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
3 teaspoons garlic powder (use if omitting the fresh garlic)
1 1/2-2 teaspoons cumin
1 1/2 teaspoons paprika
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or to taste)
2 onions, thinly sliced
1 large green bell pepper, seeded and cut into strips
2 (18 ounce) bottles favorite barbecue sauce
1 cup packed light brown sugar

Steps:

  • If you are using fresh garlic then rub onto the roast (you may use both the fresh and garlic powder if you are a lover of garlic).
  • In a small bowl mix together seasoning salt, black pepper and 3 teaspoons garlic powder (if using) cumin, paprika, and cayenne, then using clean hands rub the roast well with the spices using pressure to make certain that the spices penetrate deep into the meat.
  • Place the roast in a bowl, cover and refrigerate for a minimum of 24 hours or up to 3 days.
  • Place the onions and bell pepper strips in the bottom of the crock pot, then place the roast over the onions and peppers.
  • In a bowl mix together barbecue sauce and brown sugar, then pour over the roast.
  • Cover and cook on LOW for 8-10 hours, or until the roast is cooked and tender.
  • Transfer the roast to a cutting board.
  • Pull pork into coarse shreds using 2 forks.
  • Serve the pork on a bun or over cooked rice topped off with the sauce.

BARBECUED PULLED PORK

Barbecued Pulled Pork image

This is a amazing dish. It's easy & a real crowd pleaser. I bring it in my crockpot to all kinds of picnics and get rave reviews. I never really liked pork until I made this for my hubby who loves pork. Now I can't get enough. I use my own barbque recipie, it's posted, try it.

Time 10h5m

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 11

3 -4 lbs boneless pork roast (shoulder or butt)
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
1 medium green bell pepper, sliced (optional)
1 (18 ounce) jar barbecue sauce
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 medium onion, sliced
sandwich buns or cooked rice

Steps:

  • Combine all spices in a bowl and rub onto roast. I sometimes let my roast marinade in the rub over night.
  • Place pepper & onion into slow cooker, add roast. I don't use the green pepper.
  • Combine sauce & brown sugar and pour over meat. Cover and cook on LOW 8-10 hours. Or until you can shred the meat easily with two forks. I normally cook mine 15-20 hrs in crockpot but it should be done much sooner than that.
  • Serve on Buns or over rice.

PULLED PORK (CROCK POT)

Pulled Pork (Crock Pot) image

I found this pulled pork recipe years ago, and it's a favorite at potlucks. Freezes well for easy quick meals.

Provided by duonyte

Categories     Pork

Time 18h30m

Yield 10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

4 lbs pork roast (shoulder or butt)
2 large onions
1 cup ginger ale
1 (18 ounce) bottle favorite barbecue sauce (I like Sweet Baby Ray's)
barbecue sauce, for serving (optional)

Steps:

  • Slice one onion and place in crock pot.
  • Put in the roast and cover with the other onion, sliced. Pour over the ginger ale. Cover and cook on LOW for about 12 hours. See Note2 below regarding amount of time needed!
  • Remove the meat, strain and save the onions, discard all liquid. With two forks, shred the meat, discarding any remaining fat, bones or skin. Most of the fat will have melted away.
  • Return the shredded meat and the onions to the crock pot, stir in the barbecue sauce. Continue to cook for another 4 to 6 hours on LOW.
  • Serve with hamburger buns or rolls and additional barbecue sauce. Any leftovers freeze very well.
  • TIP: freeze ready-made sandwiches - a scoop of meat on a bun, well-wrapped. These make a great quick meal or snack. To reheat, remove wrapping, wrap in a paper towel, and zap 1-2 minute in the microwave.
  • Note: Shoulder or butt are recommended because the meat shreds very well. Other cuts do not shred as readily. It is a fattier cut, but the fat melts away in the cooking and is poured away when you discard the liquid.
  • Note 2: I have an older, smaller crock pot. The above times work perfectly for me. But if you have a newer or bigger crock pot, you may need to revise times downward, esp. after the bbq sauce is added. I think you need at least a couple of hours for it all to meld, but that may be all you need. Update: I recently bought a bigger crockpot, I think 5 or 6 qts. I cooked a 6 lb pork shoulder in it for 8 hours and it was shreddable at that point. Shredded, added the sauce, and cooked for another hour or so to meld everything. So use your best judgment on timing!
  • Note3: You might want to turn your roast over after it's cooked a while, to ensure more even cooking. I think this may depend on the size and shape of your roast and the size of your slow cooker. Remember that each time you remove the lid you lose heat and be careful, as turning a large piece of meat is awkward.
  • Note4: my sister says this takes 2 hours in the Instapot. I don't have one, up to you to figure out the steps.
