An easy recipe that produces tender pork chops with a wonderful gravy, I used a 3/4-inch thick center cut pork chops and browned them first, you may increase the amount of pork chops and double the sauce recipe, this can also be made in the oven for a shorter time :)

6 pork chops (cut 1/2 - 3/4-inch thick)
1 onion (sliced or chopped)
1 tablespoon fresh minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional or to taste)
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon ginger
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
1 -2 tablespoon fresh minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon black pepper (or to taste)

Steps:

  • Place the pork chops in the crock pot.
  • Sprinkle with onions and garlic over and around the chops.
  • In a bowl mix together all remaining ingredients except the salt; pour over the chops.
  • Cook on low setting for about 7 hours or until the pork chops are cooked through and tender (cooking time will vary slightly depending on the size of your pork chops).
  • Season with salt to taste if desired.
  • Serve over rice.

1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 cup beef broth
Pepper (to taste)
2 tablespoons cornstarch + 2 tablespoons cold water
1/4 cup heavy cream

Steps:

  • Add the gravy mix, onion powder, garlic powder, broth, and pepper to your slow cooker. Give it a stir.
  • Add in the pork (submerge it in the liquid as best as you can).
  • Cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-8 hours.

4 pork chops (thick with bone-in is best, about 3 lbs )
salt & pepper to taste
½ teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon olive oil
10.5 oz canned cream of mushroom soup
10.5 oz canned cream of chicken soup
¾ cup beef broth (I prefer low sodium)
2 cups mushrooms (sliced)
1 small onion (sliced)

Steps:

  • Preheat oil over medium-high heat. Season pork with salt, pepper, paprika and garlic powder. Brown pork on each side (about 3 minutes each side).
  • Remove pork, add soup and broth to the pan and whisk to release any brown bits in the bottom.
  • Place mushrooms and onions in the bottom of the slow cooker. Top with pork and pour the soup mixture over the top.

Try some economical pork steak or a roast. I have even done this with strips and cubes and served over white rice. If you are salt sensitive you can use low sodium soy sauce. I use chenin blanc for the wine or a good chardonnay. Reisling might be a great sweeter wine to try here! A salad or veggie rounds out this meal really well.

1/4 cup soy sauce (low-sodium is fine)

3/4 cup butter (melted)
