CRISPY SMASHED APPLES WITH CINNAMON SUGAR
Toasted pecans, brown sugar and cinnamon combine in a crunchy, nutty topping for these apples. Smashing the fruit helps create a crispy edge. Serve these apples warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Steps:
- Position rack in upper third of oven. Preheat to 350°F.
- Brush all sides of apple halves with oil; place cut-side down on a large rimmed baking sheet. Bake until soft but not mushy, 15 to 20 minutes. Remove from oven and turn broiler to high.
- Meanwhile, stir brown sugar, butter, pecans and cinnamon together in a small bowl.
- Using the bottom of a mason jar or other sturdy glass, flatten each apple half. Divide the cinnamon-sugar mixture among the apples. Broil until the pecans are browned, 1 to 2 minutes. Serve warm.

Steps:
- mix sliced apples with sugar& flour add water, syrup and vanilla and cook over med heat for 10 minutes.
- Mix flour,oats, brown sugar& spices add melted butter.
- Press 1/2 of mixture to the bottom of 8X8 dish.
- Top with apple/syrup and top with remaining crumb mixture.
- Bake for 45 minutes at 350 degrees.

GRANDMOM'S EASY APPLE CRISP
This recipe is a family favorite. I got it from my grandmother. I personally like this apple crisp recipe better than those that contain oatmeal, it seems to be a little more "crisp". This same recipe also makes a great blueberry, raspberry, or strawberry crisp.

- Slice apples and place them in greased 6 by 10 baking dish.
- Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and egg in a medium sized bowl with a fork until crumbly.
- Sprinkle crumb mixture over apples.
- Pour melted margarine over all, then sprinkle with cinnamon.
- Bake 30 to 40 minutes at 350 degrees.
- Serve warm with cream or ice cream (good plain too) This recipe can also be made with other fruits.

CINNAMON APPLE CRISP
A perfect, basic apple crisp recipe. Add raisins or cranberries if you like. I use Granny Smith apples but you can use whatever kind you've got.

- Preaheat oven to 350 F.
- In a large bowl squeeze lemon juice over sliced apples.
- Add the arrow root and spices making sure all apples are coated.
- Move apple mixture to the baking dish and drizzle the maple syrup over it.
- Cover with tin foil and bake for 35 minutes.
- Meanwhile prepare the topping.
- Sift dry ingredients together, and in a seperate bowl, mix wet ingredients well.
- Fold wet into dry mixing with a fork as you go along, until well coated and crumbly.
- When apples are done baking, remove from oven and toss, then flatten them evenly with the back of a spatula or wooden spoon.
- Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apple mixture and bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes, until top feels crispy.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
